Cracking discussion tonight lads. Very instructive stuff.

On an entirely separate note, there is an awful lot of people who seems well clued up on their football here. So I was thinking we should set up a 'Premiership predictor' league.
Basically it would be the same as Lawros predictions where he plays against celebs each week.
You put up the Premiership schedule and people put in their predictions. You get 1 point for a correct result and 3 points for a correct result and scoreline.
What do people think?

If you build it, they will come. Simon Galloway will be last going into the last day and somehow win. Tikay will be delighted that his second team beat Eso, who in turn will point out he's ahead of "Tikay1". Rinse and repeat.

I don't want to build it. Well, I'll build it but I'd want someone else to run it as it would need a database and I am completely computer illiterate.
Actually Tal, I think we need someone dedicated, someone who is on here an awful, awful lot. Is happy to post lots of posts with updates. Can you think of anyone?
I think you'd be just marvellous!

Sounds like an awful, awful lot of work to me. Don't think I'd be able to fit that into my already busy schedule of moaning, grumbling, sarcasm and making perfect sense.

Ok, we'll run it together. You do one week, I'll do the next week. Deal?

The way things are going, I'm expecting a call shortly.

But thank you for the invitation, nevertheless.

None of them was able to tell me what the second half line for an nba game should be if the 6 point favourite was leading by 3 at half time.

What's the answer to this please- I have a job interview....

I'm only guessing but imagine the answer would be around ~ -4 second half so -7 for game

Maybe it's just -3 again. I know in college once it's above 6 the first half line is usually adjusted, so if it's -11, first half might be -6. Opposite of what you would think but dunno about nba. Assume some sides finish strong and some start slow , without knowing that maybe they just want -3 as the answer ?

Daily Report

Profit on Month £148.85

Outstanding Bets £3582.77

Free bet cash £25 betfred, £10 william hill

Hadmin £25 free bet William Hill, London Marathon refund

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc&usp=drive_web#gid=23

A loss of just under £10 yesterday

Winner

Yorkshire beat Northants by an innings and 120 runs, in the easiest 1.95 shot you will ever see for a profit of nearly £36 after commission

Here are the Yorkshire slip fielders celebrating our victory yesterday

Losers

Two cyclists on La Fleche de Wallone -£20

No Whitewash at the crucible -£25

With hindsight, though I am not sure why this did not come to me before the bet was placed, this was not a surprise. The players outside the top 16 have more tournaments to play, more TV exposure and the gap between numbers 4-16 and 17-50 is generally acknowledged to be far closer than it used to be. Witness multiple 10-9 finishes, 10-8's around, seeds falling.

Longer term stuff

Snooker

Neil Robertson is 7-2 up after one session against Robbie Willams from the Wirral. Robertson hit two centuries and is now up to 95 for the season closing in on an unprecedented (there are more tournaments these days, worldwide) 100 centuries in a season. Williams had No Regrets as Robertson was so strong he had a lazy day as he reigned supreme on the baize whilst Wlliams sat in his chair for an eternity. OK, enough!

Today Ali Carter starts off against the Jester from Leicester in the second round

Cricket

Derbyshire drew, Eckersley scored 23 for Leics, Evans only 5 for Warwicks and we are still waiting for our batsman to come to the party this season

Basketball

The Mavs stuffed the Spurs 113-92 in game 2 of the play offs series now tied at 1-1, while the Miami Heat beat the Bobcats 101-97 to go 2-0 up in the best of 7 series

Baseball

2 out of 3 last night. The Royals lost (but so did the Tigers, so no harm done) whilst the Yankees lost to the Red Sox 5-1 and the Orioles won 10-8. Baltimore are 1.5 games behind the Yankees in the East at 12-1 and the Royals are 1 game behind the Tigers in the central at 11-2

Van gaal
is now 8/11 for the next Man U boss, Mourinho into 14/1

In 50 days time its the first match here

about time we got a portfolio going..winners, group winners, top scorers, sub markets the lot. I await ideas (Spain - ageing, knackered -   50-1 to finish bottom of group b, 13/2 the chile/dutch dual forecast....just as well no one reads this far i suppose)

Interesting of Bernard Charles Ecclestone to employ John Malkovich as his brief in the bribery case in Germany today

That case is some serious shit, & it seems likely that it could spell the end for Bernie's involvement with F1.

If found Guilty, he likely goes to Prison for many years, = end of his F1 activities.

He can admit guilt up front, sort of "plea-bargain", & face a monsta fine, maybe £250 million, which is loose change to him, but that would imply guilt, & force his resignation fom all matters F1.

Bernie has got out of some tough spots in his time, but he'll do well to get off this one.
