Good report, Rich, thanks. We have some nice positions building up there in Tennis (Foggy), Baseball, & Silly Cricket, as well as some squeaks in TdF. Think we have 4/1 Argentina (EW) tomorrow, too.

The Open

I was a bit distracted elsewhere yesterday, but I want to return to this subject.

Rich, can you list our current positions, please?

Most of the prices are pretty firm, so we don't need to rush in too early, & plenty of good Offers will start becoming known early next week.

I think we should build up our shortlist of Recommends though, for which we need Team Golf to help out.

As I recall, we only have 3 bets so far. If we are getting 6 or 8 places, I'd have thought we'd want to back 6 or 8 of them, £25 EW or whatever.

Quite separate to that, there are usually a ton of Sub-Markets, & we generally look for some value on those.

Just seems to me we ought to have a really good bash at having some fun sweats on one of the world's great sporting occasions.

I don't want us to splash cash around as such, but we are a profitable team, & this looks a great spot for some fun sweats. I'd be mortified if we blew £500 or whatever, but I think this event is worth looking at closely.

I would like to see an analysis of what you need to play Hoylake well, who fits on their 2014 stats, any course form etc etc in addition to bets, mainly, on offer attractiveness/price relative to betfair

to give a range of "types of bets" for next week, in addition to sub-market stuff that might come on top player from a region, who will win a three ball, top senior etc etc that are always good to find

Really like the NBA rookie of the year bet btw.  I spoke to my brother last night on his view's on the Lebron deal and he was more interested in the betting on the rookie of the year.  His angle was he liked Noel at 10/1 as a saver but given the fact the Cavs could easily trade their number 1 draft pick Wiggins for the All star Love at the T-Wolves Wiggins could easily go there and rip up the box score for a season on a struggling team getting huge minutes and hose up in the ROY market and 6/1 is a huge price IF he is traded.  This is one to hang onto until the trade happens as it's very hard to see him winning ROY playing on a contender alongside Irving and James at Cleveland.  His main bet on the basis that Wiggins doesn't get traded was Parker at 7/2 with .  He asked me to get £100 on Parker for him at 7/2.  If you know my brother (he is the tightest nit in the world life wise and betting wise when he occasionally has a bet - he is a basketball coach in the states job wise) and i think he biggest lifetime bet is £20 so to say he is bullish about this is an understatement.  Obviously we need to wait and see if Wiggins stays at the Cavs or not before we proceed.

Have to say i am not the only one who is very surprised to see Bosh stay at the Heat with Lebron gone.  I guess all his BS about wanting titles now he has 2 in the bag isn't that important to stay in Miami for max money on a team which can't compete for a title over moving to the Rockets where he would have a very live chance of titles for the next few seasons.  Still really like the Rockets bet at 16/1 as they look pretty certain to retain Parsons now and match his offer from Dallas now they have the Bosh cash put to one side available for use.

It's time for Tips for Tikays first venture into E-sports.

Bet365>Specials>World>E-sports LOL.

12/07 - Counter Logic Gaming vs Team SoloMid.
Back Counter Logic Gaming at 10/11. Best team in North America but Team SoloMid are huge fav favourites. Team SoloMid are still gelling as a team. Counter Logic are also on red side and have first choice of champion.
£20 should be fine.

1.971 on Pinnacle.
Pinnacle>Esports>League of Legends>Championship Series.

The sub market prices on regions etc should only be based on the main market?  So barring big ricks, if we think player as is good in these market then shouldn't we be better backing in the main market where all that additional value is in most cases?

There may be exceptions to this like top amateur where somebody is unlikely to place in the main but we know more than the bookies on that market, or where someone like Rory is very short and a bit hit and miss so causing that sub market to offer good each way bets (haven't looked at the Rory markers yet, just thinking out loud).

League of Legends is the most played PC game in the world at the moment.

Another popular game is also having a world championship, DOTA 2, their prize pool for that is $10,659,363 at the mo.

Esports is huge and is only getting bigger.

For Hoylake, course looks set to play long and weather looks set to be wet and windy. Low ball flight and excellent long iron play looks set to be very important. Recent Open winner profile is for high profile winners in their 40s, with the average age of the last 10 winners at 36. Oosthuizen is the old man in his 20s to win. Previous experience on links courses seems key. World class operator, 40s, superb long iron play, plenty of previous links experience? I can think of one man.

There isn't a great deal of recent course form to go on but McDowell led after round 1 in 2006 and won last time out so definitely like that bet. Have also backed Illonen who has won on links type courses at the Nordea Masters and Irish Open and has history at Hoylake as Adz said.

Up to a point, yes, but from previous years experience, we've often seen anomolies in sub-market pricing.

There are also various "Match" Markets, 3-Balls, and something Fred has traditionally done well in, "Hole in One, Yes/No?", & a host of other oddities. With so many bookies & so many markets, there might be a mis-price deep down there somewhere.

http://www.oddschecker.com/golf/open-championship

One of Fred's first ever bets was, incredibly, "Who will Kick Off?" from bobby1 in a Super Bowl as I recall, which the bookies thought was a coin-toss. The bookies proper missed a trick in that one - it was near certain, 95% certain, who would kick off, or whatever the NBA terminology is.

I know it's a long shot, but the more Markets offered, the more chance there'll be some value in there somewhere.

World cup top scorer 4/9 Rodriguez (coral/hills/bald/totesport - 1/2 betbright if you can get it and obviously 1.65 bwin is still there quite comically) is a low margin high volume arb for anyone with a low commission bf account.  Should be able to lay 1.41 quite easily.  Not much margin in it but for those with big bankrolls sitting around idle it will grind you a few quid risk free over the weekend.

Fred is already on at bigger prices so no need to invest further just some info as i got as much on as i want.

Just out of curiosity as i have no position, does today's meaningless money-spinner for 3rd and 4th place count towards top goal-scorer in those markets?
