btw, see Mexes is suspended after picking up his second yellow of the three games last night. He was first in the book too. We've found some great bets in this thread and run a bit bad on timing....

Golf Travelers Championship starting tomorrow.

This will be a different game to the US Open last week. There the aim was survival, here it will be birdies and expect a winning score better than 18 under.

1st selection Hunter Mahan.

He won the world matchplay this year with a huge number of birdies in the week. He has finished in the top 5 here before. It is not ideal that he played 4 rounds last week but I hope that he was sufficiently far down the field, finishing 38th, that he is not too drained by the experience. This course will suit him far better.

£15 win @ 15-1 Stan James.

2nd selection. Ryan Moore.

Has finished in the top 5 here in 2 out of the last 3 years. Has had a couple of weeks off so will be fresh.

£15 win 25-1 in tons of places.

P.S. Shame 3G is not in this as this course would suit him - as long as the fog stayed away !

On.

We have had no dissent so we are on both of these. I missed the price on the first but got a better price on the second. Both bets were placed with Betfair.

Daily Summary, as @ 06:00, Thursday June 21st.

A quiet day. Fred had a bet on the Essex v Kent T20 cricket which went to the last ball and lost.

We also had a banzai £10 at Royal Ascot which didn't pay-off.

Fred is in shocking form at the moment.

What's coming up?

We have the first quarter-final of Euro2012: Czech Republic v Portugal. We have no interest in this at present.

The weekend's golf starts today. The BMW Open and the Travelers Championship where we have two runners, Mahan and Moore.

There's some tennis at Eastbourne.

Royal Ascot continues.

I am sure when I have seen both these teams play they both have had quite a few corners, so with this being simply a KO game, I can see the percentage chance of more corners to be more likely.

As for the game, Portugal are favourites (8/11 with Hills) and are a much better side than the Czechs. The Czechs had an easier group, scraped through, whilst Portugal had a much harder group and also scraped through and beat Holland! Not far away from getting something against Germany either.

Therefore I see a winning single for Portugal to win tonight.

Any specials? Ronaldo to score at anytime and Portugal to win is 2/1 with Hills also. In my view, a terrible price, but will it happen? I think so.

Postiga also seems to get a few chances every game too, but I see him as very slow, but I think there is a decent chance of him getting on the scoresheet too.

I can see a Portugal rout here.

PS how are things going since taking over?

Thanks for getting the debate on tonight's football started.

Things could be described as "average" while I have been sitting in the hot seat.
We have decided to call it educational.

As I watch the raining pouring down outside, I am reminded that Wimbledon starts on Monday.
Surely, we can find some value there?

I'll start the ball rolling with Marion Bartoli being offered at 80/1 in a few places and 33/1 in another.

I'm sure that Balotelli would fit in just fine at Wimbledon.

I watched Federer very closely at the French last week. He is far from the player he used to be. His shot selection was very poor and he is running round his backhand, and his backhand a few years ago was one of the greatest shots in tennis history. I can't see how he can win, but laying him at 5-1 won't make you rich. Instead I will be backing any of his opponents who has shown any kind of form  on grass and I can see him losing in the first week to a big priced opponent.

Good thinking.
A draw against a big server might give us an opportunity?
On the other hand, he'll only lose in the first week if there's some play. Smiley
There might be quite a queue to play on centre court. Perhaps they'll play 24/7 there.

I haven't really been following the football but that seems a good price to me.
Portugal strike me as a team that is likely to try to resolve the match in 90 minutes. Is that a fair statement?

Also, because I love the corner statistics, Portugal have gained 24 and Czech Republic 15 in three matches.
If maintained that would lead to 13 corners in the match.

StanJames are offering 6/5 for > 11.5.

Are quarter-finals played differently to group games?

Who said "sample size"? Smiley

We're pretty bad so far at the Individual games, and the games are very efficiently priced

I could easily see the Czechs frustrating the Portugese, and it going to extra time

I think corner stats from the group games bear no relevance to the Quarters, one off cagey games i would think, especially for the underdogs like Czechs and Greece

Prefer to see quirky bets myself

For example the two teams tonight have 11 yellows in six group games (6 Cz, 5 Port), so just under 2 a game each

The Czechs committed 61 fouls, most in the tournament, though

http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/season=2012/statistics/round=15172/teams/index.html

Tonight's ref is Howard Webb

He booked 3 Italy v Croatia

No bookings Russia v Czech

Is there possibly any mileage in bookings markets, say under 40 points at 15/8 PP?
