Back to work chaps.

Liking Trustan Times in the Scottish version of the National next weekend. Ran third in it last year, and has been aimed at it again all year, with the usual red herring runs along the way.

Everything in the race that has a chance with recent form with him, he is better off at the weights against.

I suggest we have a few bob on now as Mr Nutting from SL will no doubt do so at some point, and the price will drop. He started 10-1 last year. ( If he has done already, I apologise for any plagerism, but I couldn't find that he had, and in any case, I fancy it anyway! Grin)

General 16-1. Lets keep it sensible for Fred and have £10 ew

I also think we should have a very speculative £5 on biggest price we can find on Edmund Keane. Looked to be running into form last time, and little birdies tell me Mr Bowen is quite keen to get him into the race. The really big prices have gone but a fiver at 33s or the small amount betty has at slightly bigger, won't harm. Then we hope he gets in!! GL

The over-round in the Grand National yesterday was 165%! Compared to 151% last year. So bad.

2008 147%, 2009 146%, 2010 155%, 2011 155%, 2012 152%, 2013 148%.

There was a bit of hoo-hah a few years ago about over-rounds and things got a lot better, but they've slid badly. It's happened a lot recently, where something will go off 6-4 in the last at Kempton despite being over 3-1 on the machine, because it's ridden by Kirby or some such, who's already had two winners.

Fascinating stuff Peter the thread is very lucky to have you mate.

Thanks very much!

Not a good weekend for the bets though! Sad

Don't worry about that Peter, variance will always weave it's magic, & there'll be no complaints from the lads here, who all understand that.

An interesting race, I thought, rather than exciting.

Most of our season bets did OK too, I think. Our total McLaren points bet remains in excellent shape, especially.

Thanks, I just hate to lose other people's money!!

Our pre-season bets are looking in great shape on the whole Smiley

rosberg runner up to hamilton again and frankly not looking like beating him in a straight battle any time soon

Disagree. Nico has been close all weekend, Hamilton just has the edge right now. It's swings and roundabouts really. The main factor in the championship will be reliability. Don't forget we got 4/1 on this Smiley

Peter, put that out of your mind.

We are all grown ups, & we are greedy, we want to win money, but nobody ever forces any of us to follow anyone, or have a bet.

Stick stuff up, ignore wherther or not Fred gets on (it is not relevant) & the lads will decide for themselves.

It's fun winning, but we can handle losing, too.

since Germany last year, Rosberg has one win against Lewis straight up (Brazil)

Rosberg only has one retirement in the 12 races forming this sample, and in the other 10 GP's were both finished he was behind Hamilton

My comment, which i worded carefully, is valid until Rosberg proves he can beat him in the same equipment on a consistent basis. Of that there hasn't been much sign for a while now

I suggest we have a few bob on now as Mr Nutting from SL

Who is Mr Nutting please?

A very decent tipster(Correction-Atheraces website). In my view, better than the praiseworthy Hugh Taylor, also from said site.

Neither, I hasten to add tipped Many Clouds(special breed etc)

Not very often you get a bigger price in shop than online, but united to beat city 3-1 is 22/1 in hills shop. 18's on their app, 20s best elsewhere

BFSP the only ones offering a price, and worth a chuckaway tenner at 18-1.

Wow @ that stat.

Nothing we can do about it though, is there? I guess we are all to blame because we get caught up in the "big race" hype, but personally, if I relied on punting to make a living, I'd avoid Markets which are that bad. How can we make money long term against 165% books?

It's the same as buying poker action in MTT's @ a big premium, 1.5 or whatever, it is rarely going to end well, in fact, mathematically, in the long run, it is nigh on impossible.

FWIW, the bookies had a decent day yesterday, but it would have been a ton better if McCoy had finished 6th instead of 5th. Or worse if he had won....

STFD was 8/1 across the board, almost joint jolly I think, at the scheduled start time. Amazing how it got clipped 2 whole points (in a very strong market) in the dying minutes. Something does smell fishy there.

Its amazing how many different names are being touted for that gig.

I read yesterday that this young lady was in the frame. If only, love her to bits, & supremely talented.

Really?

Struggle to see that. How are the ratings on FTLOC? Is he widely seen as popular when he's not playing the role of Gene Hunt ten years ago?

Seems similar to Martin O'Neill is being lined up as the next Leicester Manager stories. Lazy paper talk.

Dear Mr Wheeldon,

Following a review of your request, I can confirm that we would be happy to offer a price of 50/1 for Angus Deayton, Paul Hollywood or Sue Perkins each to be the next Top Gear presenter.

To place this bet, please contact us over the phone at your earliest convenience and an advisor would be more than happy to place this bet manually on your account.

Kind regards,

The bet365 Team

Any guesses how much I got on?

Agree.

Isn't half the popularity of TG that people recognised a bit of themselves in the jobbing presenters, when they first appeared.

The other two are now stars in their own right, and I'm not sure, if it carries on in the same forma,t they will want a big name overshadowing them...againish.

Lol, Glenister now 2-1!

Think that's known as the TfT effect.

If the other two go (and, if Mr C is offered a golden handshake elsewhere, why wouldn't they?), Auntie will have to decide whether she wants a new version of the same, entertainment-based show or whether she wants a more informative - dare I say more serious - show.

Glenister, Vaughan and the-like are dependent on that decision.
