Bobby's Hawkins tip is in good shape at the close, leading 6-3.

That 8th frame where they played safety shots for 30 mins was about as good as it gets without potting a ball. Was a big frame for us to hang on to that.

I LOVED that frame, & frames like that, proper snooker, as close to 5 frame "shootouts" are as ODI's are to proper Test Cricket.

Fingers crossed Hawkins can seal the deal now. Selby certainly looked mentally out of sorts last night.

I love frames like that too, as much as watching big breaks is fun, those type of frames are usually the nuts and bolts of a score line. Making a 90 break gets you the same amount of points as three 30 breaks, but being a poor safety player or tactician will cost a lot of frames.

I saw Selby interviewed last night, he said he had only been able to do about 9 hours practice this week so hopefully the rustiness will continue tonight.

That break was fantastic to watch

I may have missed the initial analysis, but I gather Selby only started playing again Monday after being rested due to a trapped nerve in his neck

If that was the rationale for betting the underdog, good spot

yes, he's been struggling for a while and pulled out of the China Open, he said he has a bulging disk and had been to see a chiropractor but it had made no difference, then a sports physio which he thought had made it better but still not 100%

Our NBA bet went south, I'm afraid, we were on "over 199.5 points".

The score was 88 to the Suns chaps, & 100 to the Jazzy lot.

Roffle. Even without key Point Guard Wing Attack Neil Channing, the mighty Jazz held the mighty Sun to just two fat ladies. NBA rules!

LOL on the basis they only scored 88 points I think Mr Channing was playing ( this based on info supplied by Mr J Cake )

The thing about betting on baseball and basketball is even if your backing the favourite your never that far in front. Its like having QQ v AK. You know you have the best of it but know it can go either way, your just praying for a hold and really in getting the price you wouldn't really mind having the AK and sweating to hit.

Deffo the best book around and if you are betting lines on US sports where you want to buy the hook on the hcaps or totals then you can do so with them too.

What's the right price for Villa to go down?

15    Aston Villa 35    -14    36
16    QPR            35    -18    34
17    Wigan    35    -26    34
18    Bolton    34    -28    33
19    Blackburn 35    -26    31
20    Wolves    35    -41    23

Tbh think MacLeish is an awful manager....

what's the right price?

4-1? 5-1? lower?

Ive laid some 6/1 this morning on BF, QPR still have to go to Chelsea and Man City tho there are obv scenarios where either of those teams may not be either full strength or playing for much, tho in City's case they might be playing for the league. Wigan and Blackburn still have to play each other so its hard to see how both of those will get past Villa, Blackburn also got Spurs and Chelsea to play.

Bolton have 1 game more and a better run in but tho Villa are a poor team too I feel they have just had a toughish set of fixures( played Arsenal. Chelsea. Man Utd and Liverpool in their last 7 games) and that one win or even two draws, given their much better goal difference could see them safe. West Brom and Norwich away, with Spurs at home isn't as tough as other teams run ins too.

At 6/1 I thought there were a lot of ways they avoid the drop.

Do we have any MotoGP fans?  Awesome sport.  I'd like to propose a £25 wager on little Dani Pedrosa to win the Spanish MotoGP race at Jerez this weekend.

He is 4/1 to win the race (each-way odds 1/3 odds for top two). In reality this is a three horse race.  Three horsies being Jorge Lorenzo (another awesome little Spaniard, Barcelona fan however though so he may be crestfallen), Casey Stoner obdurate and frustratingly good Australian and little Dani Pedrosa who is 5ft 4 and weighs 8 stone but chucks his 1000cc motorbike into the corners like it was a 125.

Jorge is favourite and rightly so at around 5/4.  He has won this race last two times.  He won the opening race of this season last time out in Qatar.  Casey Stoner hates this track and has never won since competing in MotoGP.

Little Dani however won here in 2008 and has never finished lower than 2nd since he joined big boys racing in 2006.

I'd like to propose a £25 win bet on Dani.  I'd recommend this be placed before Practice (Friday) or qualifying (Saturday) too as his price is only likely to go down as he has qualified in pole position quite a few times.

A win today for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
They needed 32 runs off the last two overs with 4 wickets left.
It looked challenging until they hit 27 off the penultimate over.
