2 centuries in the bag 1 to go. 138 for Jones.

On the downside 13-5 and 13-2 are not great for total frames.

Sandy

Thanks.

Total frames - yes, I heard we suffered badly because of the drubbing Hendry was on the wrong end of, & we are up against it now, & we need to find some long matches or we are in trouble.

No worries though, if the Centuries bet gets home it pays for the frames bet.

Jamie Jones v Ali Carter

Tables are great for scoring. Very high century count so far in the tournament.

Jones has 3/5 of the top breaks and 4 centuries in 2 games. 2 in each game. Carter has 3 centuries 2 in rd 1, 1 in rd 2 but was playing Trump so more cautious.

Paddy power are 11/10 over 2.5 centuries.

Robertson (5) v O'sullivan (2) is 4/6 over 3.5 and some line are 4.5 !!! I guess starpower over rides the facts but it makes 11/10 +2.5 look phenomenal.

Couldn't put anyone off of Jones +4.5 frames in the handicap with betvictor 8/11 either  (plenty firms are 8/11 +3.5)

Sandy

Like, looks as nailed on as today's Puny cricket bet. Time to commence the recovery mission.

Thanks Sandy, nice Tighty-style analysis.

We have £50 with PP @ 11/10, over 2.5 centuries, Jones v Carter.

Had to check you bet correctly !

Sandy

Phew, had me worried, too!

It would not be the first bet I have placed imcorrectly. There a bit of a story there actually, which only Mere knows, maybe I'll relate it soon. Backing the "wrong" bet can sometimes be very profitable, as I have recently learned. Wink

Having advised Pune to win in the IPL I think a quick match report is in order.

Decca  batted first and after 10 overs were 49-2 and could hardly hit the ball off the square, the match was seemingly won. Time to back the truck up as it were. Even if they batted well a total of about 140/150 was the best they could realistically reach, an easy target on this pitch. So a change of tactics was not called for, but that is what we got. 2 new bowlers appeared for our gallant Pune warriors- Paveev Lobaballabit, and Sergio Fulltossatini. Over the last 10 overs Decca managed to score almost 140 runs and reached 186.

In reply Pune lost a wicket on the first ball to a shot that was the epitome of catching practice for mid-off and the damage was done. We did get to the final over with 25 needed but at no point were we ever in with a  realistic chance of winning.

I can not recall ever seeing such inept bowling from a side, and I have watched a lot of theses IPL matches. That and the manner of the first Pune dismissal makes me very suspicious of the integrity of this particular match.

Welll we did a lose, but that's a lovely Bet Report, almost worth what we lost.

When you first Posted the bet, I think I did allude to the integrity of cricket in that part of the world, which was suggested by the seemingly generous price, & we saw a similar thing with Greek football recently.

Best stick, perhaps, to sports we can trust, inhabited by decent people, as in football, snooker, & horseracing.

Yay! Our first win in May!

We only had a losing streak of 3, but it still plays with the mind.

Today sees the first legs of the semi finals of the Blue Square (Conference) South play offs - Basingstoke v Dartford and Sutton Utd v Welling.

Dartford are favourites to be promoted, and probably rightly so as they finished 2nd and have a good squad. However, they have a few injuries, and how often has a team finished 2nd and then lost out in the play offs to the form team?

The form team are Basingstoke, who had a storming finish to the season, losing only once (to the champions) in their last 11 games, and coming from nowhere to grab the last play off spot. Because they finished 5th, they are considered the outsiders, but at 11/2 and with their form there is value there. All three other teams had indifferent ends to the season.

Don't think this should be a max bet but definitely worth a dabble.

I saw the best goal I have ever seen at Basingstoke Town.

The main stand overhangs the A road behind

Carry on.

Very interested in this, but I assume you mean 11/2 to be PROMOTED, yes?

If so, @ 11/2, it would seem rude not to indulge in some minor dabbleage.
