Very impressed with Tottenham tonight.

May I suggest backing them now at 11/10 to beat a similarly devoid of talent team Aston Villa.

No chance on earth this price is around for long if this score holds.

The Harry situation resolved, suddenly the Spurs of 3 months ago come out to play. Instead of the Muamba Moment, it's the Redknapp Rebound.

The English Greyhound Derby is almost certainly the highlight of my sports betting year and whilst I know there are other greyhound racing enthusiasts on blonde none have thrown up their opinions, either in this thread or any others. Therefore I thought I'd offer my opinions and advise on a couple of bets.

"Early pace wins the race". A lot of dog punters tailor their bets purely around that phrase and here at Wimbledon we should too. The standout performance of the 1st round, both in terms of sectional times and race times, was that of Bubbly Phoenix who raced to the bend in 4:68 and didn't stop on his way to scoring a fastest of the round 28:31. He was 20/1 before round 1 and even bigger before an impressive trial prior to that. A schoolboy error led to me missing the 20s and his price has crashed in to a best price 8.6/1 on Betfair and I genuinely think he is still a bet at that price when compared with the other market leaders.

Bubbly Phoenix is a wide seed and is very likely to get a favourable draw in every round, whilst hopefully avoiding the likely trouble at the first bend that can often occur when we have 6 class dogs.

If you decide to follow my advice, I'd go for a straight win bet as we've probably missed the e/w value. Perhaps £20 win @ the 9.6 on Betfair.

The favourite is last year's champion, Taylors Sky, who I don't really like at the prices and I think the real outstanding value lies in the classy Coolavanny Bert who I am certain there is more to come from at Wimbledon. Bert has broken the track record at Sittingbourne and has carded cracking times at Henlow this year too. QAw, EP and the odd VQAw are dotted all over his results, and as I said before that is key here.

I'm topping up the win part of my bet on Betfair before Friday with 50 on offer but I recommend something like £15ew @ the 40/1 on offer with bet365 who are paying 1/4 odds top 6.

Lastly throw a 5er ew on Bombolini @ 200/1 on bet365, purely based on his first round performance where he broke quite smartly and went round in a good time. There could be more to come from him.

You may decide to not follow these suggestions but at the very least I hope it provokes some discussion.

Cannot have such a raw novice, no matter how talented, at single figures at this stage of the Derby. If he was 25/1 fair enough. 8/1? No thanks.

Fair. Have you backed anything Camel?

Bubbly is by far my smallest winner, just felt I'd kick myself if he pulled it off. Also felt Tikay would get a decent sweat for his money, and I purposefully kept stakes low for the bet (in comparison to some of his bets).

FML.

I backed Eden Star and didn't realise until now he'd been withdrawn.

Gutted.

The only 11/10 left is at Sid James.

Get on now.

Max bet. It'll be 4/5 by kickoff.

I wouldn't go overboard in assuming it's going to be soft ground. The Rowley Mile drains amazingly quick and only showers are forecast between now and Saturday. It's soft now but good ground would be no surprise by the weekend.

Agree that, historically, anyway, the Rowley Mile drains wonderfully quickly, but........very heavy rain is forecast for tonight, tomorrow, & Friday.

I am not that far from Newmarket and my back garden isn't  raceable. Is anybody in newmarket? Have you backed the frenchies yet?  (insert picture of fella in hooped shirt, beret and string of onions round neck, he'll fall for that)

At last, we discover the ultimate way of measuring the going. "My back garden is not raceable". Sounds fair enough to me, we can lump on now.

The 2 frenchies set off yesterday, disguised as Karabiner & Red.

les canards pourraient nager dans mon jardin.

Abtaal dix sur betfair maintenant.  Un superpétrolier peut tourner plus vite

bonsoir

The only word I recognize is "ducks", so I'm assuming the back garden is soft, heavy in places.

Tikay, you have mentioned Newcastle a couple of times now. I know you are tempted. Why don't you put up one of your own? Back 'em!
I couldn't put you off. Newcastle won 6 in a row before their off day against Europes finest (Wigan) last week. Quite a few changes for Chelsea too. I think their bench is way stronger than the likes of Pools last night but even still, Newcastle will be giving it everything.
Put yourself up son!

Oioi I hope you had some mate

Lovely for Newcastle, delighted for them and well deserved. Cheers for that Tikay, keep 'em coming! Only joking, I had them backed myself (very small) anyway but I didn't have confidence enough to tip them for the thread, that's why I wanted you to tip them!

Wigan are 2/1 with Boylesports to win at Blackburn this Monday coming with Blackburn best priced 6/4. Utter nonsense imo and I can't understand this price.

Blackburns home form is W6 D 1 L11, Wigans away form W5 D 3 L10 so almost exactly comparable even on a season long comparison.
But of course over recent form Blackburn have lost 6 of their last 7 and look completely disinterested. And Wigan are in sparkling form (Fulham defeat aside) over a similar timeframe.
It's a must win game for both but Blackburn have not responded to being in 'must win' scenarios and Wigan clearly have. If results go against them beforehand, Blackburn might be virtually relegated by the time it kicks off.
I simply can't see that price remaining as it is for long so I would suggest £50 Wigan win now and keep an eye for maybe further top-ups if the price does remain.

I'm also looking at a bit of a Banzai. Swansea are currently 20/1 to win at Old Trafford on Sunday w Betfair. By the time that match kicks off, the earlier Newcastle vs Man City game will be over. IF Man City win, the league is effectively gone for United. I'm recommending a MAX BET of £150  £10.

Well done tonight!

Will muse on that silly Swansea Bet - a tenner @ 20/1 is almost irrestible - tomorrow, but for now......

I missed the 2/1 for Wigan, but think that will shrink by the morning, so we are on, with Blue Sq, for £50 @ 15/8. Thanks.

ducks could swim in my garden.

Abtaal ten on betfair now. A supertanker can turn faster

 good evening

Sporting life has the ground as good to soft now, drying, which is probably why the ducks didn't stay in Newmarket!

Glad it wasn't me that tipped the Bolton bet...

 Wink

Basingstoke sweat is still on - lost 1-0 at home in the first leg, should have been 1-1 apparently. Hope we don't rue that miss. Second leg is on Sunday.
