What is your view of betting in the place only market on BF in those kind of races Neil?

Obv the place price is nearer to correct than at the rigid qtr first 4 but sometimes I want to bet one to place only, having the same on for a place than an ew bet would cost. That race is a good example as i backed the 2nd place only as i wasnt sure it was hcapped to win but thought it was sure to run its race.

I use these a fair bit, can often find some decent prices for just a place too.
Really like that betty keep the first 3 for the place when you have a non runner or two in 8 runner races, almost printing money on some races

yes the rigid places on Betfair after the non runners is v nice.

I bet one at Naas on Weds night for a place on BF in a 16 runner hcap. It was one of those spots with loads of early pace in the race and I bet one with form over further as I expected it to run on up the hill inside the last furlong past a few tired horses. It did but didn't quite get there but in spots like that I am often unconvinced as to the merit of betting ew on selections like that one that I didn't expect to win but thought the race was set up nicely for it to be placed. Same with Dark Ranger in that particular race today, tho that was a bit of an exception as the place only price taken ended up only slightly under the SP place price in the end tho it feels like a funny spot to have backed one for a place only and then be hoping it doesnt win all the way up the straight.

If you are going o be baseball, you have to use Pinnacle.

Still waiting to have my Account validated with them Keith, what a palaver, they wanted scanned documents & all sorts, but they have it all now.

lol they are desperate - it took me four attempts to get their required quality.  I think they recruit in opticians.

Give them a bit of leeway.  They don't take any phone bets and manage a turnover in the tens of billions off a staff of about a hundred and are by some distance the best bookmaker in the world.   Admittedly CS isn't their best side but it is worth the wait.

Not a tip yet Teeks but noticed Huddersfield are the underdogs for the League 1 play off final. Slightyly surprised by that. The thread has won 1 lost 1 on them but I fancy them to beat Sheff U and think the price may shorten so worth getting people's thoughts.

Game 2 San Antonio at home to the clippers..although the bookies seem to have wised up a bit money line is still total points 194.

The analysis hasn't changed the numbers are still the same..no injuries to talk of apart from Griffin who still has a sore knee but he went missing in the 2nd half the other night anyway..Chris Paul is their key.....

So a rinse repeat?

Also although not a great price the race to 20 points market... San Antonio are notorious fast starters and are 13/15 to 20 points..almost free money at 1.4

Today's final bet. We need to finish with a win, please, Dean!

Over 194 points, Clippers v Spurs, £55 @ 10/11 with Ladbrokes.

ON

17/05/2012 0000033 Over/Under 1 £55.00  LA Clippers at San Antonio Spurs Total points  Over +194.0 10/11

193  !!

Miami lost though 2-1 down.

Oh man so pissed off... The spurs were given the clippers such a kicking that both teams withdrew their starters with two and and a half minutes to go and proceeded to dribble the ball for most of the shot clock to run the time out... We short up by a point... So frustrating as the bet is right there...

Miami look to be falling apart...wade one of their 3 superstars was seen openly arguing with the coach during a timeout. they are in disarray and may not even make it past the pacers...who gave them an old fashioned hiding last night. Looks good for mine, Jeffs and the threads lay of Miami for the championship....

One bright point the to 20 point race was yet another stroll as the spurs made it again..40% return on an 88% favourite has gotta be good Smiley

At the risk of repetition.  Chelsea have bad problems with suspensions etc, but surely the 4.8 over 90 mins on betfair is too big for Saturday's match.  Are Bayern really that good?

Daily Update as at 10.45am Friday 18th May

A losing day, though not disastrous, & we have - almost certainly - some money to come from unsettled.

Golf

Our "banker", Bjorn to whup Snedeker, came unstuck in pretty spectacular style.

We have several other World Matchplay wagers in-running, see next post.

Horse Racing

We got done in the Dante, big time, finishing plum last, beaten a distance & some. Our nag fought for his head early, never settled, & had done himself in before halfway, from whence we travelled steadily through the field in a sort of backwards direction. Reverse implied odds.

We had a long-price value bet later, "LIFETIME", quoted very short in-running, but it never got home.

Darts.

What a pigs ear this was! Darts is very profitable for the thread, but we got it round our neck big time yesterday.

We had Hamilton to beat Whitlock, & we were so nearly a winner before a remarkable implosion by our man, & we waved goodbye to £80.

Two other attempted bets did not get placed. One was too late, so did not count (it lost), the other SHOULD have been placed but an administration error arose at this end, so I ruled that the bet counted for thread pourposes. It lost anyway. Wink In both cases, the "ruling" was declared on thread before the result was known. The less said the better.

Basketball.

We lost again. That is all.

Baseball

Singhee found us another nice winner, & Baseball is now near the top of our "Winners" league, well done Singhee.

Cricket.

Best not count our chickens yet, see next Post, but we have two bets in-running.

I'll address that shortly, Doobs, but before anyone mocks the bet, I believe the thread's biggest ever winner was Chelsea v Barca, which you were the author of, yes?

So, well worth a proper look by our footie fanatics.

I agree with your sentiments.

Since losing Evans, united look a shadow of the side they were. They also have lost Hoskins and cresswell to injuries, and Beattie due to suspension. They basically have one striker, porter who is very average.

United have therefore been playing a 5 man midfield and keeping things very tight. Their other problem might be the loss of MacDonald in midfield, he makes them tick and he went off injured in the semi final, worth checking about his fitness.

I think it will be a tight game, probably a 1-0 win to one of the sides. The 15/8 on Huddersfield looks a reasonable bet to me but I'll let others give a view.

This is effectively an away match.  If the sides were around even you'd expect around 2/1 Chelsea.  You can probably knock them out to through suspensions, so is the question is what is the normal gap between the sides and I don't think it is that much.  Will let others give their view though
