Not sure what happened with Gilbert. Seemed to drop back to the support car 4 or 5 times for different problems! Had his shoe in his mouth at one point.

Sagan incredible at the end, but like you said was way to short to back today

Daily Report, as @ 05:30, Wednesday July 4th

Fred didn't make any bets yesterday.
A bit early to be "nitting up" a profit for the month perhaps.

What's coming up?

Wimbledon continues.

There's snooker in Thailand.

England are scheduled to play Australia in the 3rd ODI at Edgbaston. It may be replaced with a game of water polo.
http://www.myweather2.com/Cricket/United-Kingdom/Edgbaston.aspx

The final match in the "State of Origin" rugby league series takes place in Australia at 11:05am. That will feature some of the toughest rugby league you are likely to see. England play "The Exiles" this evening.

The Tour De France continues. Keep the tips coming. I'm totally unqualified to make a decision on the tips so we will need a bit of consensus from Fred's followers before we place a bet.

Monthly recap for June.

We placed 121 bets on 15 different sports.
Football was by far our busiest sport with 45 of those bets and we made £51 profit.
Cricket and basketball were our heaviest losers.
38 different people contributed tips that Fred placed money on.

Overall, we made a loss of £473.34 on the month. This, obviously, isn't good and we need to become a bit sharper.

Since I started looking after Fred, he has made a profit of £283.50. Smiley

In aggregate Fred has now made a loss of £83.75 since we started on January 26th from £20,046.64 bet. It's been quite a ride and I've had an awful lot of fun from this thread. The standard of contribution has been great and I've learned a lot about sport and about betting.

I'd like to thank all those that have contributed and I look forward to your continued involvement. The more people that contribute to the thread the better as our knowledge increases and I'd like to encourage anyone that is considering contributing for the first time to do so.

Good summary Vince, thanks.

I suppose, in some ways, to have "only" lost £83 on a turnover of £20,000 is not so bad. With better discipline, such as you have shown, we really ought to manage at least 5% return I'd have thought.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Football washed it's face in June, even if only marginally. I think we (I) did not have good discipline, & there were too many "I fancy" type bets. I dont think we ran too good either, though that's an easy excuse.

In Basketball, the Heat lay was a good bet, & I'd do it again, but that apart, if I were running Fred, anyone would struggle to get any further baskeball game bets past me. We don't have any edge, & the market seems to be perfectly priced. If a rick was spotted, or someone came up with an exceptional, I'd consider it, but only under duress. We just have to face facts, we were pissing money away on "I fancy" stuff. I accept responsibility for that, but it'll not happen again.

Love the thread, SO much fun had by so many, & a great "spirit" & attitude by everyone, no aftertiming, no malicious rubs. Lovely.

Been so busy out here, but I had planned to mention this pre-Wimbledon, but never had the time, so too late now, but it may help us for future "major" events in Racing, Football, Golf, whatever.

I wonder if.....

Before any major sporting event, (Royal Ascot, Cheltenham, Open Golf, Wimbledon, Euro12, those sort of things) we should have a little team of 2 or 3 experts in that particular sport who helped us make better informed decisions? I can think of 2 or 3 prominent "experts" here on almost every sport.

I also think we should not underestimate the value of our stats exprts, such as redarmi (with his inherent understanding of odds) & henrik, who has a knack of finding stats based value. These people are useful to us in ALL sports.

I'm just thinking out loud really.......

I had a small personal loss for the euros but the Fred definitely ran bad to some degree. Corking bets were found and there were a few value losers!

Well, its that time when the bookies start publishing odds for the Premiership season ahead, and I am about to have my first ante post bet of the season.  I am not sure about how Fred feels about tieing money up for nine months, however I am confident I have found the first piece of value.  I am sure Mr Hawkins will have a view....

Stan James - Top London Club Group B - QPR @11/4

The group consists of Fulham 8/13, QPR 11/4 and West Ham 7/2

So, what do QPR bring to the party.  Well, its second season and Mark Hughes has had time to get to grips with the squad and start to make some changes.  There is significant investment at QPR, compared with West Ham and Fulham - and my understanding is there is more to come.  They have already made what I consider shrewd purchases at this level of Green, AJ and the loan signing of Fabio from Man Utd and released nine players who were all short of Premiership class In addition, I expect more signings before the start of the season and also that Fernandes will have no hesitation spending again should there be challenges in the January Transfer window.

Fulham are an ageing squad in transition.  There inability to secure the signing of Pobrebnyak - who will joining Reading reinforces the fact they are not an attractive proposition for new players and lack funding to compete even with promoted clubs who have had a cash injection.  I think they will lose Clint Dempsey, Duff is ageing, Danny Murphy has departed for Blackburn and they desperately need to sign striker - the toughest position to get good vfm on a tight budget.

I have less of a strong view on West Ham.  I think they will be solid under Sam and maybe just avoid relegation, however early signing of McCartney and Diame suggest they will be shopping in bargain basement territory again and will not be able to bring the likes of Cisse in if thing go tits up by January.

I guess the main basis of this bet is two things; Fulhma squad in decline, QPR the richest of the three clubs and the fact I believe Hughes is the best equipped for next season. I would be betting Fulham 11/10, QPR 15/8, West Ham 3/1

Recommend £80 at 11/4
