Boylesports are offering money back (presumably only on the outright market) if an Irish player wins the Open.

With McIlroy, Harrington and McDowell among the favourites, how good is that offer?

Think it is an okay offer if you are going to have a bet anyway but I doubt it makes blind betting +EV.  Seems a pretty tough tournament to me to bet on and I have spent about four hours on it today without coming up with anything.

Notts Forest confirmed bought on twitter- 9/1 on betfair, 16s available with Boyles and co. Probably worth a decent chunk with the view to trade off, depending on Tikays utility of money.

Don't have a left back. Both CB's have left on free transfers this week and Mcleary had already gone.
Rumours that the manager will be replaced.
The takeover was known about for a while and they shortened as a result.
No doubt the money will make a big difference but I think they are way behind in preparation for this season. They haven't been able to offer deals and if the manager is set to change then transfer targets won't be being worked on.
I think they will compete this season but cardiff and leicester both have plenty of money and will be ahead in prep as well as the relegated teams with parachute payments.

Yeah, i had a closer look at the betfair market, still think there is some value, but certainly not backing at 16s with available. I think backing at 16s will be value, and the lay may turn out very good, especially if he mentions heavy investment on Saturday. I'd certainly expect them to shorten on Betfair immediately after, as there is no way the guy isn't going to claim big things will happen. Probably perfect to back now and lay directly after, worst case they shouldn't drift out and we have a breakeven bet.

See the TDF thread for a little bit of value I reckon there is in Froome

To be clear, you recommend Froome for the Outright?
If so, he is available at 13/1 currently.
Don't know what jjandellis thinks now but from what he and the team have said today I'm convinced they are just riding for Wiggins and win or lose Froome will not be leaving him unless he's injured.

Would be wary of Forest for win purposes purely as a punt. A trade as suggested by the guy with lots of letters in his name would be good but then you have to have lots of money on betfair tied up for a lonnng time.

Even if they have shed loads of cash they only have one month to get a decent manager, a whole new defence, a midfielder or 2 to replace Mclearly and replace some of their strikers who many of always seem to flatter to deceive.

Pretty impossible and even if they manage it they are never gona gel in time.

Good points.
I won't be tying up tikay's roll for the length of the football season.
However, if there's a stand-out straight bet, we'll take it.

Daily Report, as @ 05:30, Wednesday July 11th

Fred had just one bet yesterday; Elfsborg to win comfortably at Floriana in the Europa League. That's football for anyone not in the know. rfgqqabc's tip won - even Fred couldn't mess it up after taking a different bet based on the tip.

England won the last ODI against Australia in the cricket in a rain affected match at Old Trafford. Whooda thunk it?

Fred had a tip for the Tour De France but hasn't placed it. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

What's coming up?

The Tour De France continues and Bradley Wiggins is a huge favourite.

Snooker continues in Australia.

There's domestic 40 over cricket and an ODI between West Indies & New Zealand.

The World Junior Athletics Championship is ongoing.

The Women's U19 European Championship has reached the semi-finals stage.

It's 16 days until the start of the Olympics.

Chris Froome believes he can win the Tour de France in the future but will continue to help team-mate Bradley Wiggins in this year's race.

Froome, 27, is currently third in the overall standings, behind Cadel Evans and yellow jersey holder Wiggins.

He said: "I'd like to win the Tour one day but it doesn't necessarily have to be this year.

"My priority is to make sure the man on top of the podium in Paris is Bradley Wiggins."

Doesn't seem like he's a bet, then

Last race at Worcester - Moulin De La Croix Wink

May be subject to a rule 4 or two Cheesy

(Seriously, don't bet on it if you can find a market)

Nice tip.
I'm negotiating with my bank manager at the moment to see how much I can get on.

Obv Gayle and co can make it look a tiny target but not sure I'd be wading in at 1.18
