Ty for the info Mr Tightend. After your desciption of the pitch and the Hampshire total I saw that I could back Hampshire at 5/4 so did so.

Well done hector.

Tighty called the whole thing right, from start to finish, although the original plan for a weather-ravaged day never materialised.

Despite the fact that Sawpit Sensation travelled overnight to Ireland, he will not run in tonight’s second quarter final of the Ladbrokes Irish Derby.

Apparently the dog was let loose in a paddock to freshen up but in a freak accident pulled a nail from its socket. A veterinary examination ruled him out of tonight’s action. It is a dreadful pity that the solitary UK challenger, owned and trained by Dave Hunt, should make his exit in such a manner.

Daily Report as @ 0740, Sunday August 26th

We lost around £14 yesterday, having staked about £200, so not a disaster, but we certainly made a bit of a pigs ear of things, especially football.

We placed 5 bets on Football, 4 of them lost, spending £152, which netted a gross return of just £38. Even the lone winner was lucky, as it was recommended as a Double, but I reverted to two singles. Not our greatest day, considering our combined expertise.

I missed a winner or too, as well, but I also swerved some losers, so the result was probably about right.

We also lost £20 on Cricket, which came down to the toss of a coin, but was tremendous value.

On the positive side, hector delivered the goods again in the most unlikely way, on Rugby League, for a £140 profit, following an epiphany in the shower. You can't make these things up. £20 @ 7/1 on what amounted to "Man of the Match", & it got home!

Our bicycle race bet continues to pedal along nicely, our man won the Stage, & in the General Classification, now leads Froome by 33 seconds, & Contador by 40 seconds. This is good.

http://www.lavuelta.com/

In the Barclays Golf, we will face some losses in the "Outrights" (only £15) when we settle them tomorrow, as all our chaps failed to do the business, & with one day remaining, they are in no position to recover.

We still have chance to turn a small profit on the Barclays Golf in THE most odd manner, in our unlikely "Top Korean" bet. It is effectively a match between Choi & Dr Noh, & we began Day Three four shots adrift of Choi.

Dr Noh was an early starter, & shot a most uncharacteristic 78. Game over then.

But wait.....Choi then carded an 80!

So we enter Day Four with a mini-sweat, just 2 shots behind Choi. £20 @ 7/4 is at stake.

In total, of the bets which began & ended yesterday, 7 bets, 5 losers, & 2 winners, with a £6 profit. In that respect, we did well to turn a profit.

In a long running bet, we lost £20 on Greyhounds, after our selection became lame, & was withdrawn.

I think we did well to only lose £14 yesterday, & so our August profit remains largely intact @ £566.

If we think we could have had a better day, so does Wayne Rooney. Interesting, though, that he sustained this injury whilst on the ground (a pure accident) & then stood up, & calmly alerted the referee to the problem. In the Swansea West Ham fixture earlier, some of the Swansea players, all of whom must have failed their RADA entrance Exams, should take note, their rolling around on the floor theatricals were nothing short of a disgrace.

Sorry for the Notts County recommendation guys. Still a bit dumbfounded by this result to the honest.

Even worse for me was I had Oxford and Bristol Rovers as my other double (which I didn't post up on here)  and the Bristol Rovers game was abandoned after 66 mins with Rovers winning 3-1 at the time!!

Whats coming up?

The Bicycles & Golf both continue, we need Dr Noh to have a good round in the latter.

Two Premiership Football matches are televised, Stoke V Arsenal, & Liverpool v Man City.

Arsenal @ 5/4, on a ground they often struggle at, look way too short to my untrained eye...

In the Liverpool - Man City game, however, Man City @ 6/4 looks great value - they will rarely be 6/4 this season, & Liverpool have yet to see the Brendan Bounce.

 http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/liverpool-v-man-city/winner

Not a betting event, but BBC televise British Grand Prix Athletics this afternoon, with the highlight surely being Olympic Hero Mo Farah.  Shame we cant get 3/1 on a MOBOT today, albeit a week to late for Fred. EVERYONE was doing the MOBOT, except our footballers....

No worries man, we don't look back, or do "sorry" here, what is done is done, & your bets were warmly received by others.

As it happens, we did not do the double, we did two singles (I don't much like Doubles, Trebles or Accas), & only for small money, so your bets only cost us £4. In fact we did FIVE football bets yesterday, & one of your two was our only winner!

One of those Saturday's I'm afraid. We live to fight another day, & we only received the mildest of surface wounds.

We are being very conservative & prudent as to Football Bets at the moment, & just as well. The season is young yet, plenty of time.

Much as it pains me to suggest it but if my sources are correct and I believe them to be:

Due to "Don" Vito Mannone starting in goal for Arsenal as Szcz. is unfit and Fabianski still not 100% for today's game Stoke are massively overpriced @ 5/2 and Arsenal are a ridiculous price @ 5/4.

You'll have to figure the bet out as I of course won't be wagering on this game myself.

I never knew of the Goalkeeper situation, Ralph, but I put the Oddscheker page up because I really thought the Arsenal price looked odd.

I just saw your "Don Vito" Tweet, so I looked up your man on Wiki. Seems like he does not do in-between, he is either very good, or very bad.  Crouchy? No prob.

Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith says full-back Brett Hodgson's "smartness" was key to their Challenge Cup final defeat of Leeds.
Hodgson received the Lance Todd Trophy, awarded to the man of the match, after scoring a try and kicking five goals.
Smith told BBC Sport: "He's not the fastest or the strongest but he knows how to play and he schemed well.
"As a full-back, you've either got to be scintillating when carrying the ball or smart. He showed his smartness."
Smith added: "What he lacks in pace and size, he makes up for with the smartness and the quickness between his ears.
"He orchestrated a couple of those tries and they were planned by him, not by the coach."

I thought the above comments by the Wolves coach, taken from the BBC website, sum the performance up perfectly and indicate why he is my favourite player. His pass that made the 4th try was like a John McEnroe passing shot, or a David Gower cover drive.

I was a bit worried when after 15 minutes the heavens opened which would have been bad news  for our bet had it continued. It was so bad that I thought the ref was going to take the players off.

Tikay, where do you find the place to bet these "unusual" bets. I don't want to place one but was curious to know a price for Danny Pedrosa to be leading the MotoGp at the first corner if there is such a market. We have a fine British rider in Cal Cruthlow splitting Jorge and Danny on the grid who qualified in 2nd.

Infact it is a massive weekend for motorbike enthusiasts as we also have world Superbikes and my best event of the year British Superbikes from Cadwell park. You already know the "Cadwell" story but the unique thing about this Lincolnshire circuit is the jump known as the mountain.

They do some "daft" markets Jade, but they don't do that one.

Calling all Scotch lower league types...

Obv the top Premier League scorer will be a Celtic player and it'll probably be Hooper. Will Tony Watt play enough? 16-1 each-way any interest?
