"Any mileage in 6/1 Tranmere @ Villa, 8/1 Scunny @ Norwich, 5/1 Swindon @ Stoke, 7/1 Posh @ Reading?"

Ah-ha.  Seems you have the same thought process as me on the League Cup.

I had a look at all these teams as well.  The reason I didn't want to oppose Villa and Norwich is that Hughton and Lambert have had a horrible first 2 games under their stewardships so I think they'll be really keen to post wins tonights to keep the natives onside?

I like the look of Swindon and Posh though.  Think Pulis and McDermott will chop and change tonight and both Swindon and Posh have goals in their teams.

The other one I liked was Bradford at Watford as posted above.

Football bets for tonight - it looks like quite a few suggestions may be Posted during the day, so I'll leave them all until early evening before deciding what we should do with them.

Thanks, & keep them coming.

"Scunny is a really interesting bet. Would be surprised if Norwich gave a toss about this game"

One word on Scunny though - they have been horrendous so far in the league losing every game and capping it with a 4-0 defeat at home to Yeovil last time out!

Did score 5 at Derby though in R1 (admittedly conceding 5 as well!)

Also think Hughton kind of needs a display tonight after that mauling at Fulham followed up by a home draw, where admittedly they played well.

Rich,

One lovely stand though, with embompoints to die for

I have no idea what "embompoints" are, so I googled it.

It returned this answer....

http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=34057.570

So I still don't know. Is the Stand at that horribly common cricket ground something to do with a Boeing 747?

an embompoint is typically referred to in the context of a ladies decolletage (the area of a woman's body between waist and neck).

An embompoint is typically said to be heaving, or curvy, perhaps plump or stout

One cannot deny that the main stand at the Ageas is just as sexy, and full of lines and curves.

Perhaps I need to get some more sleep.

Okies, enough fiddle faddling, time for a punt.

£10 Lucky 15 on the above four away teams in the Carling Cup.

That is assuming they still do double the odds about one winner in these crappy bets?

The Sussex Cricket Bet. Rich suggested 2/1 was a good price for Sussex, but that price would not last.

We have therefore had £30 @ 3.3 on Betfair, but I now need to find who originally put the bet up. Anyone remember?

The bet is ON, we just need to find it's owner now.

ripple11 I believe.

A Hampshire fan, going against his own team

Quite like those sorts of recommends.

Shudder.......

Anyone else support this maniacal idea?

No? Phew.

Last time Fred did a Lucky 15, we....oh, wait.

Two weeks of the premiership season gone and already some interesting developments

The very first week I watched  2 games in full( and all the highlights and match reports of the others) The first match was West Ham against Aston Villa and although West Ham sneaked through with a 1-0 win to me both sides looked absolutely dreadful with little or no goal threat and their defences all over the place .

The second was QPR v Swansea .... Swansea prevailed 5-0 away from home but this doesnt show the complete story as after they went 1 -0 up QPR applied serious pressure and where unlucky on a few attempts not to level however they eventually got caught on the break ( 4 times.) Swansea did look a well organised outfit that are going to score goals but I can also see them looking vulnerable against better teams so might be worth opposing...QPR with their new signings and money will probably do enough but look average.

So to the second weekend...based on what Id seen above I recomended opposing West Ham with the confident Swansea and they duly obliged beating The Hammers 3-0. I knew Villa had played terrible against West Ham in the first match but couldnt recomend Everton as a bet because historically Everton have struggled with any consistency. What I wasnt prepared for is how good Everton were against an abject Villa side .If anybody gets chance to watch that game in full they will see an onslaught to Villas goal by Everton and no resistance at all.The goal Villa did score was a swerving 25 yard effort  but the final score could quite easily of been 8 -1

As Rich Suggested Villa had a championship side out last week

    01 Given
    04 Vlaar
    06 Clark
    32 Baker
    34 Lowton
    08 El Ahmadi
    10 N'Zogbia
    25 Bannan
    31 Herd
    09 Bent
    23 Delfouneso

So the coming weekend...I could make a case for Fulham away at West Ham or Everton to beat West Brom but the stand out bet has to be Newcastle to beat Villa at 4-6 at Stan James or Betfair

Newcastle beat Spurs on the first day of the season and went down with a fight to an in form Chelsea, so with a fanatical 60000 Geordie home support and the very strong strike force of Ba ,Cisse and Ben Arthur they will make mincemeat of a very poor Villa side .

I make Newcastle at least a 1 - 2 shot and know this price will shorten between now and  kick off on Sunday, so recomend getting on as soon as possible.

Just had the draw for the semi finals of the Cricket CB40 cup

 Sussex v Hants

 Lancs v Warwickshire

No match odds out yet...and pains me to say, but I make Sussex hot favs to beat Hants.

Sussex at home, and apart from their lackluster display against Yorkshire at the 20/20 finals day, are a very good one day team .
Hants will be without two of their key players, Dimi Mascarenhas (injured) and Neil McKenzie (going home to SA).
Hants of course will be full of confidence from winning the 20/20 cup......but I think Sussex will be far too strong this Saturday.

Not sure what a value price might be on the Sussex? ....thoughts from Tighty or any cricket follower?

.Early odds to win outright are Sussex and Lancs 2/1   Hants 3/1    Warks 7/2.

Thanks Nick, we are on.

Sussex to win the CB40 outright, £30 @ 3.3, Betfair.

ON

Please note, it is only partially matched so far.

You moved the market Mr Tikay. Dr Noh into 13/8 with Ladbrokes. You are the Tony Bloom of nationality golf betting.

Another piece of value pie if you please.

Ahh, that explains why I could not locate it in my dictionary.

Is decolletage correctly spelt? Can't wait to try that one on girgles.

Have to say, embonpoint is excellent, & it nicely fits the A380 undercarriage.

I expect Dubai has been in the thread. He singlehandedly moves whole mountains, never mind markets. I did have a little for myself with Ladbrokes, off-thread, I confess, but not big money.
