Daily Report as @ 0730, Wednesday September 5th

We made a loss of a whole £8 yesterday.  Oooh.

Three new bets were placed, two of which completed.

We had Exeter to beat Aldershot, which fell over (£40) & Southend to beat Wimbledon which got home at the very last minute, for a £32 profit. We were even more fortunate with the latter, because we nearly went for HT-FT, or a goal-fest, so the nitty route paid on this occasion.

It's an odd thing with betting, & the human mind. Back a winner & we think "damn, should have bet more, it was a certainty", back a loser & we think "sigh, knew that was a bad bet". I was a bit cross with myself last night, as for most of the 2 games I thought I'd placed two bad bets, but once the 94th minute winner went in, I thought "yup, I did well".  Just incredible how we perceive things.

The third bet we placed was a Ryder Cup Banzai, Paul Lawrie to be top European, £5 EW @ 25/1. Could be an egg on the face job that, but might give us a grand sweat, too. I can't see better value in that particular market, for sure.

Our cycling bet had a day off, it was a "Rest Day", so just 4 days remain.

Our man remains 1/6, even 1/12 in places.

What’s coming up?

In football, a local derby of sorts when Mr Di Canio’s Swindon travel to Oxford. Worth watching for the touchline histrionics of Paulo alone.

In cricket, it is the fifth & final ODI between England & South Africa, at Trent Bridge, & the betting suggests pretty much a coin flip. Mr Trott will not be in attendance.

NFL starts tonight, (Sky Sports 1, Midnight) for an 0130 KO, or however they start these things.  Cowboys at the Giants. Gotta use the lingo.  Heaven only knows how I will sort out or assess bets for NFL, I don’t have a clue. Might have to enlist Lord Tighty’s aid. Don’t be leaving your suggestions too late, as I can’t be staying up all night to watch when I have work tomorrow.

They seem to have a pretty neat Stadium, them Giants.

One more "Whats Coming Up" is the publication today of the snappily-titled book...

The Secret Race: Inside the Hidden World of the Tour De France: Doping, Cover-ups and Winning at All Costs

The Times has published extracts from it in today's Sport section. It seems to be wholly aimed towards the Lance Armstrong situation. The extract has cherry-picked Lance Armstrong quotes, without a doubt, but it makes pretty dreadful reading.
