The aims of this thread as I see it:
1. Making money
2. Having a bit of banter
3. Learning stuff
4. Debating the merits of a particular bet
What isn't about:
1. Making selections which you think will win regardless of price.
2. Aftertiming
3. Bickering
I think in recent days/weeks the thread has moved from one camp towards the other.
Smack on.
The aftertiming & bickering only arose in the last week or so, I've no idea why, aftertiming has NEVER been encouraged or even allowed on here, suddenly it is all over the place. I blame Jason Herbert. (He made a one-word Post on Fred yesterday & it insta-kicked off! He's a natural).
We debate, we have different views, we have Post-Mortems, all these are encouraged.
Once a bet is accepted, that's it, there is no point or use for poking folks in the eye.
lol. I ain't been on here so much the last week or so as since the kids are now at school I get to watch things like loose women and master chef Australia.
I know you hate after timing but had I been around I would have told you that the Dtd Degens could put a hat full past Scunny Utd on present form.
I love the thread put it feels a bit like panning for gold. Gonna have to go back now and read all the last 7 days posts but that will have to wait until I have killed off tighty's quiz tonight

Time for a group hug.
Now, has anyone tried the new banana opening technique?
one other thing we need to careful about too is our use of the phrase squeeze technique. There are going to be a lot of men with a certain sexual problem looking for ways to , shall we say prolong their enjoyment in an event that are going to use Google and find this thread is near the top of the listings.

Let's get back off-topic for a mo......
The name "Andy Ward" was mentioned on here today. For those who do not know of Andy, he has been around forever, & for many years, he penned one of THE Top Three Poker/Lifestyle Blogs ever. (Camel & Paul Phillips were the other two). He could teach most blonde Diaryists, deffo me, a trick or two.
Anyway.......I happened to bump into him last night, at The Vic. And it suddenly occurred to me - have you ever seen these two guys in the same room?

At the other end of the scale, there are guys (Tonji, Tal & ACE2M already mentioned as to bicycle racing ) who have taken us into Sports we have never followed, we've learnt a bunch, & had a lot of fun with them, at zero cost. Those lads (probably) know bugger all about "value", but they have a deep insight into certain sports, certainly enough to give us an edge now & then.
Agree, Tikay. Before stumbling across fred, value was a cheap supermarket brand to me.
I've been betting cycling on & off for 10 years. The first 2 years at a loss. However, the last 4 or 5 years have shown a profit of 8%.
I'm still guilty of having a sweat punt, but I've tried to focus on what I believe my edge is, & that is have more information & time to research than the bookies.
I've already started my research on next years Giro & Tour
btw my fred cycling bets are 0/3 I think, although the JTL coup was unluckily missed, & the Cavendish team move could not be a fred bet.
Fred just needs to get back on the bike to value town!

Andy Ward's Blog, no longer active, is linked below. Even now it makes a wonderful read.
http://www.getitquietly.blogspot.co.uk/
I stole this from his blog, too. Needs no further words.

Yes. Yes I have and so has half the office.
I see your hug and raise you a double back-tap.

Fred has definitely gone off track & I feel as if I am slightly to blame, but not sure to why Ace (and others) wanted to get one over on me, just because I didn't agree with predictions/bet. It is very disappointing.
I am sure we will get back on topic and back to winning ways! Obviously Fred will make up for October, in November
The thread has a place for everyone and you are not to blame. In many ways having someone like yourself is good because it allows many of the key concepts to be explained which is good for everyone. What is important though is that it is done politiely and in good spirits. The sniping is a bit boring and unneccesary.
On another note I am likely stuck in the office for the next 24 hours plus as we are about to be hit by a hurricane so any punting opps will be warmly received......alternatively I will probably just end up posting loads to pass the time. On the plus side it appears to be me and 15 women under the age of 35 so every cloud...
Any interest in Obama at 8/15 for the Election? It seems big to me but i'm not totally confident, i'd be interested to hear what you think.
Also good luck with the storm, I've been in Antigua/St Vincent/Bequia for some quite big storms in recent years and it's not much fun.

Just seen the fuss the "Hooper" post caused. I am indeed from Scunthorpe and it is the wife who is more of a fan. We have had some great players and managers go through the club in recent times and its great to see them moving onwards and upwards. Hooper is an honest professional and although he is some way off "the full package" of a premier league striker, it is certainly encouraging to hear that Hodgson is even considering him in the mix.
As for all the bickering its just not needed especially itt. We have some really knowledgable folks who post some absolute pearls of wisdom on here and it will be a shame to lose them.

I have thought for a while that Obama is too big and have built up a big position for the firm. In recent weeks I have been thinking about it some more and I may have underestimated the impact of the superpacs. They are very likely to give Romney a massive funding edge and if it is tight they might just tip the balance towards the Republicans. That said without them I just feel as though Obama should be a 1/5 shot. He just doesn't make mistakes and seems to be gaffe proof which is a lot more than can be said about Romney. I did actually think I might try and price all of the States tonight if i am stuck here so I will post some more on that if I do it.

I think bobby is refering to me Tonji
normally mistaken for Tony
infact I'm not a Tony (reallife name Neil) oh the confusion.
Tonji comes from a nickname I had at Uni, from a good mate who was from Vietnam, a who called me "tonji" (spelling probably wrong) meaning comrade.
