Following my Wycombe success - Lets get the darts going; the PDC world starts Friday and I think I have found a smidgen of value in the betting on the "Fourth Quarter"
Recommendation £40 Justin Pipe 15/2 Boyles
So, why. Well I could right an essay having gone through the draw, however I will keep it fairly brief.
James Wade is favourite - clearly brilliant, yet troubled. I think the longer tournament gives him more time to melt down and we have maximum time to face him, as we cannot meet him until the QF. Also in this group of eight, we have probably the most dangerous of the non Top 16 in Beaton and Mervyn king - not overly afraid of wither, although they may represent tougher challenges than some of our "also rans"
Moving to other group of eight - I would have been considering Huybrechts - who made the recent players final at the expense of our man, however sad news - his dad passed away last week. I think this probably means steer clear, altho can go the other way obviously. Wes Newton is a very talented player - however continually fails to translate his floor form to the big stage.
Our man - well this year has been a breakthrough year. he made semis of Players at Butlins, made the last 16 last year, QF of World matchplay, and has risen to 9 in the PDC rankings. He has to get past a woeful Andy Jenkins, then Mark Walsh, who as made one last 16 this year and is ranked 22. then its Newton or Huybrechts. If we get this far and wade crashes can get out and bank if we want to if Wade gone or let it ride
More importantly - this is the weakest quarter and I just cant be with Wade, Newton or Huybrechts. Throw in our man has the ability to piss of the most patient of throwers and thoroughly annoy fast paced players and we have a bet. As short as 9/2,
generally - Boyles are out of line
Would be interested in Dubai, Snowball thoughts amongst others - however I am on.
OK Shaun, thanks, we have gone with that, & the lads seem to think it is reasonable.
We have £40 @ 15/2 (BoyleSports) Justin Pipe to win the "4th Quarter" in the PDC Worlds.
ON
Bet ref: 61/63£40.00 Single
Market Selection Price
PDC World Championship Quarter Betting
4th Quarter Pipe, Justin 15/2
Total stake £40.00
Estimated return £340.00
Sorry, didn't get a chance to post earlier.I would say 15/2 is a slight bit of value but it's a quarter that easily 8 could win.
Pipe to me struggles to close out games but his slow play is a bit of a leveller as it's a definte advantage over most players, if he meets Dennis"the Menace"Priestly in the final it could finish in after the BDO final. One of the reasons why I think he struggles to hit the winning double is that he's one of the few Players who is Teetotal.
I won't be betting on that Quarter but if given a free Bet I would be on Newton.

Why does being teetotal make it less likely you'll hit doubles?!

Have you ever played Darts with a few Pints in you???
Amazing things can happen as you are far more relaxed, at this level a lot of the games come down to who has the greatest nerve.

As a teetotaller, I should declare I find that offensive.
I am however rubbish at darts and have never had a drink, so am unable to offer any more data.
UEFA meanwhile...ban Caulker and Ince, fining Serbia 65k.

The original put the news in North Korea to shame.

Think shooters in the olympics used to take a small amount of alcohol, but are banned now. Tried to google it but got asked "did you mean
are scooters allowed alcohol.
...." Does anyone have a good search engine that just feckin looks for what you type in?

Just because it suggests "scooters" doesn't mean that you have to accept the suggestion. However a search for "shooters" is likely to be fairly unfruitful since most of the references are to "shots" of alcohol.

you will find the following:
"4.3.2 Alcohol is not included in the Prohibited List for shooting sport and
blood alcohol levels are not reported by Laboratories in the course
of their analysis. However, alcohol is dangerous to the health of
Athletes, and more importantly, can pose a serious safety risk at

expelled from a shooting range. A breath analyzer and/or
psychomotor tests may be used to facilitate decisions on this

Google's full of shit, non-relevant results at the moment. It's part of their push against 'spam' sites, but they've thrown the baby out with the bathwater. Unfortunately, there aren't any other proper alternatives at the moment.

I've had a look around and there's a film and an actress I am convinced are going to do well in the Oscars.
Zero Dark Thirty is from the same writer/director that brought the Hurt Locker and the critics seem to be getting very excited about it and Kathryn Bigelow's directing.
Bigelow went to great lengths to convince an actress you might not have seen much of to take the lead role. She didn't have to audition and that says a heck of a lot when the director isn't recruiting a major name.
The critics seem united that this is a very strong performance in a gritty and very challenging film. I believe this is the sort of film that will gain popularity with Obama's Inauguration in January and as the film gets around the world. What makes it interesting - according to the reviews - is that it doesn't actually have an American ending of "USA! USA! USA" which, considering the nonsense they made of U571 et al, is quite an achievement.
Chastain was in The Help and in the utterly fabulous Coriolanus if you recognise her.
I'm going to have a bet for a bit of fun on Jessica Chastain, who is as short as 15/8 and as big as 3/1 with Stan James. She will be nominated - I sincerely hope - for Best Actress and I hope still further she will win.
I doubt Fred wants to lock up money til the ceremony but I thought I'd post, anyway.

TfT missed last week's UFC winner so I have another one for tomorrow evening (please note Friday evening, not the regular Saturday).
The most recent Ultimate Fighter series culminates tomorrow evening with the finals taking place on the UFC on FX 6 card. The Ultimate Fighter is a reality TV program where the fighters are split into two teams and eat, sleep and train together for 6 weeks whilst fighting in a tournament until there are only two fighters remaining to contest the final. This season was called "The Smashes" and featured fighters from the UK taking on Team Australia. In the lightweight tournament two Brits have made it to the final and I think we are presented with a nice bet on this fight. The format allows the viewer to get an insight into largely unknown fighters and allows us to find some good value bets as bookmakers aren't always fully "clued up".
"Stormin" Norman Parke (16-2) from Northern Ireland is the slight underdog in the final and he is the bet to make. He takes on the very likeable, and also very talented, Colin "Freakshow" Fletcher (8-1). Parke is the better all round fighter, he has good wrestling and BJJ with a controlling top game. Fletcher is a tall and long character but Parke will have trained for that and in his semi-final Fletcher was tagged on occasion by a much smaller opponent. Parke is much better than Fletcher's opponent that day. Parke will mix it up standing just as long as he needs to to be able to put Fletcher up against the cage and work the takedowns. Fletcher is dangerous on the ground with his long limbs but Parke is a skilled ground fighter and should be clever enough to avoid the sunmission. Parke wins by decision IMO.
Every bookmaker has Fletcher the favourite with Ladbrokes going 8/13 Fletcher and 6/5 Parke. I'd have those prices the other way around.
Suggest £40 on Norman Parke @ 6/5 with Ladbrokes.
It pains me, but we're betting against this hero.....

Coral slow market move again.
In for 1 unit on U193.5 just purely as we have a 2.5 point edge on the market.
Just a little punt if people fancy it with a seemingly good side.
Knicks/Lakers at 1am. Lets go NYK -4

Thanks Tom, but I have just got home, and missed that Bobcats bet, it has just tipped off.
Fingers crossed for the Knicks, that would be a lovely result to wake up to if it wins, we have £100 or £110 on that.
