Tyty but can't take much credit for this one. Dom was on before me and he was an obv pick by the time he was 7/4. Still a cracking bet at that price though.

One of the best series ever this one. Roll on the summer and normal BB. Ten weeks of he'm. Like Tighty said about test cricket, the slower it is and the less that happens the better.

having thought about the MVP more closely today it occurred  to me that rb's are possibly now much less likely to win the award than previously given the new RB by committee approach most teams adopt and these two teams certainly have back up RB's that will eat into each others stats. That prob means that the QB's are more likely to get the MVP but it also means that other positions are more likely than previous years too.

I remember backing fast Willie Parker to be the MVP the year that Pittsburgh won it at about 16/1 and I believe he had a rushing TD in the game that was then/and might still be the longest rushing TD in the Superbowl and he still lost out to Hines Ward who caught a long TD pass on a trick play pass from fellow WR Randle El.

So I had a look and in the last 15 years only 1 rb has won the MVP, 9 qb's  won and 5 others( 3 wr, 1 safety and 1 linebacker) and even further back when the game was far more balanced the rb's still didn't win many. So it could be that the rb's are taking up too much % in the lists and the QB's not enough which has to be considered too. Either way it  couldn't be 17/2 other and it still can't be 15/2 other.

This bet is still available..............at 9/2.

Daily Report as @ 0945, Saturday January 26th

A profit of £98 yesterday, despite missing by a few seconds a £70 winner from Gascoigne the Younger.

We lost £22 on a Rugby bet which went all wrong, £5 on a FGS, & £50 on a Lay of Rylan, taken as insurance.

The winner was Rylan (net, +£125) who won CBB for Chompy. I feel dirty backing stuff like that, it is so demeaning.

In a slightly more refined Novelty Bet, news came through yesterday that "Splash" will return for a 2nd Series, so we have £100 waiting to come our way, down to Doobs, who somehow spotted that one. We have not booked it is a win, though, as we have no idea when BetVictor will pay out. Could be a while.

A strangely flat weekend of punting lies ahead, with the only NFL action being the Pro-Bowl, which is not a punting event, & the last India - England ODI tomorrow morning. I think we'll give that a miss, we have not done so good on that Series, though Bell can still do us a nice favour in the Top England Batter market, where he is well placed. If he can win that for us (+£70) it will pay our Pujara bills (-£50) with a bit to spare.

Anyway, we can keep our money in our pocket if there are no decent bets today, we are not forced to bet.

We do have a couple of football bets lined up today though, we have backed Coventry, & effectively laid Hull against Barnsley.

Just hate opposing horses like him when in form.  He is so far in front of the rest at the minute, and I haven't seen a chink.  I think 1/5 appeals more than opposing him. Can't see it getting past the value police though.

Oooooh, we can get 2/9 at Paddy Power.  That should keep the value rozzers happy.  Recommend £45 Wink

He's a heck of a horse. Whether £50 to win £10 is a bet over trip and ground is, for me, another question. I'll likely be 'no betting' but did wonder whether hearts might be ruling heads today.

Like the Queen, Fred has TWO birthdays, the official one ought to be February 1st, which was when we started betting.

Today, however, is the actual birthday, it was one year ago today this thread began.

In those 12 months, it has become 2nd in the all-time list of blonde Threads measured by replies, & 4th meaured by Views.

All because Camel felt mischievious, & wanted to tempt me back to the dark side. As if.

It was of course Vince that reminded me of our birthday, & without Vince's impeccable if tetchy book-keeping, it could not have survived, as part of the attraction is that the figures are genuine.

Big thanks to everyone for keeping the spirit of the thread just right - it is a fun thread, with no bad blood, glory be, & many blondes have made a good few bob from following your recommends.
