http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/englands-rising-stars-shaw-barkley-3489450

Very interesting article for the england squad.  Would be amazed if this isn't massively significant.

On the back of this and other discussion recommend £100 on Foster 1/2 to make the england world cup squad with ladbrokes.

Ruddy and Defoe worth discussion in the morning as well given their relatively large prices.

Morning.

No can do, we were, unsurprisiungly, restricted to £10, but for the sake of interest, & having a few sweats, we took it.

Middlesbrough 1.6 on the exchange to finish in Top 12.

I cant see a 10 goal swing between Mboro and Bolton who are the only other team who could finish 12th (mboro lose, bolton win + 10 goal swing in difference - boro +9 bolton -1)

Surely we could cover off some of the £350 on Watford?

Someone better than me would have to work out how much though.

This is probably bobby1's call but

We have £350 to win £100

We can have £100 to win £60 on Middlesborough at 1.6

and change -£350/+£100 to -£290/zero which isn't much of a hedge

We could back Middlesborough to win at Yeovil at 11/8 (ripple11 yesterday) but that leaves outcomes unhedged (draws etc) so you could lose-lose

not easy.

It looks to me like shut our eyes and try to cheer on a winner.

FYP :-)

Got raging tonsillitis here so only did it quickly but had a run thru the prices to finish top 12 and don't think 1.61 is the right price if you wanted to hedge anyway. You could stick it in at 1.8 tho I think that's too big and see if you get matched but trying to save a few quid on the loss if it goes wrong now is prob too late, if we were so worried about losing the 350 we have had 45 games to adjust the bet and it wasn't suggested we green out even when Watford were 1/14 a couple of weeks ago so don't think redding out to lose a little less is the right thing now.

Thanks Phil.

We won't be doing anything with this, the nature, size & price means we must run with it as it stands.

My Saturday afternoons won't seem the same without seeing Watford fritter away points late in the game.

So, after a whole season, it all comes down to a game at 12.15 today. If nothing else, a proper sweat, this one.

To me Milner looks the best value of whats left

Cant see a way he is not picked barring of course injury

2/5 should surely be 1/8 or even shorter

Agree with this Horsey as well.  Interested on people's view on suitgate and whether its a reliable formguide of who is going and who isn't?  Hard to imagine England putting players on a promo photo for the suit sponsor who are not going to the finals surely?  If so then we need to be betting Defoe at a juicy price.

Does seem strange

Can anyone clarify the rules for paying out?

I.e. it states to "make the world cup squad" so if Player a is named and then doesnt actually go due to injury or whatever are we on a winner or a loser?

i have never been a fan of milner and pretty sure he must wake up most mornings and wonder how on earth he lives in the world he does.  This said, he is a virtual lock for the squad and seems a Steve Hodge/Carlton Parmer type duracell bunny who runs around a lot but is always guaranteed a place in the squad.

Bit harsh but take the point he is a better player than most seem to think his adaptability has hurt his reputation.

Anyway back to that picture just seen it in the Mirror, two questions When was it taken? Townsend is in the pic and he is now confirmed out injured and Defoe who presumably is not over here very much at present is in it as well?

Nothing to say it wasnt taken around the turn of the year?

Have to say, John, I can barely believe we are contemplating betting something based on a promo photo which we must assume was taken a good while ago, & which even the bookmakers will surely have seen.

Surely taken at congregation of last friendly squad. Was barkley not injured then?

I am not saying it's 100% bomb proof to use as a form guide as obviously injuries can happen etc etc.  However, usually in this modern corporate world top level football operates in when someone is or isn't on a calender/photo shoot like this by a club there is usually a reason lurking behind the scenes that isn't publicly known.  The vast majority of these prices on this market are left up by firms and only changed when they see money for them.  Your £10 has moved Foster into 4/11 this morning for example.

Looking at the photo is really obvious when you think about it, but...

I have spent hours doing research before on bets and after placing them on come across stuff that was fairly major.  Sometimes you know highly relevant stuff you just haven't put together with your bet.  Simple brain fart.  Why would the fella who is fitting this market in his daily schedule seen every photo.  He could definitely have come across it, but don't think it is a given he has thought about it of even seen it when he did the market.

Smalling at 8/13 with Fred is massive surely. Yes he is rubbish but Hodgson loves him and he is adaptable. Crucially he can play right back and with Johnson being injury prone and Walker injured Roy will more likely look at flexible cover this side rather than left back. He has been an absolute fixture of the england squad since roy took over. I am on. Cant see him missing and would have it more a 1-3 shot

I cannot begin to tell you how much more likely i think we are to win the scoop 6 today after a 'certain old nit' managed to exit a major dtd deepstack first last night.  I actually thought certain things were impossible now i think anything is possible and we have our name's written all over the scoop6!
