That race really was a tale of two Williams. A few pretty poor rides there. Tough to make up 15 lengths on a stiff uphill track with a horse who has a quick burst of speed.

A day of "revenge" results today. Bet Justice Day and Mukhadram at Ascot and Velox at Epsom. Was it me or was Tylicki a bit overly confident in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock on Magic Hurricane. I thought it went from 1/3 to "oh dear I forgot to ride it aggressively" in running. Was that my pocket talking?

I know we should look to avoid overs and avoid multiples...

Over 2.5 goals and over 6 cards: 14/1

Would hesitate if Van Gaal picks De Guzman and changes the shape of the team. Costa Rica will be playing through the inside channels if the Dutch line up as they have. We want open football, obviously.

its ok, tikay will be asleep come kick off

come back with the team news please

i mean it can't be 6 cards can it, on everything we've seen? but for a free tenner, why not...

i note the colombian daily took it well last night

"Spanish referee, son of a bitch" etc

he was also the england/uruguay ref  - godin not sent off etc etc

I think that is Hamilton's fourth qualifying mistake in a row? not entirely sure why he would abort a last lap there, he wasn't exactly forthcoming in the interview with the lovely Ms McKenzie afterwards

seems quite fragile, mentally.

He was slower than his previous lap - as were most people, but most thought they would try attempt to do an epic final sector to make up for it whereas Lewis thought there was no point. As it turned out, the last sector dried massively and everyone went quicker.

Yep, very fragile mentally. This happens once every season to Hamilton, and this is exactly why I tipped Rosberg to win the title at the start of the season. Lewis just can't separate his emotions from work.

meanwhile the MCC v ROW game at Lords

FoxSportAus is one of various overseas broadcasterss taking the Sky feed

Sky goes to a break, but Strauss does not realise that not the international broadcasters are not on break

He turns to Nick Knight and says, apparently

"KP was a real c***"

this is broadcast in Australia.

 A bit of a distraction...

Didn't have  bet in the 4.15 at Beverley but I winced a little this morning when I happened to notice that a horse called World Record ran just 18 days ago and in that 18 days the poor thing had a gelding operation. I thought at the time: "Blimey, that's quick to come back from what must be pretty traumatic and painful process" usually they have at least three months off after that op. I decided it must be a no-hoper.

 It just hacked up.

Where do we put that on the Brown-Atkinson scale?

The golden rule of Lewis Hamilton is 'nothing is ever Lewis Hamilton's fault'. Which meant he had a serious case of cognitive dissonance, seeing as the Mercedes pit wall guy had already said 'we didn't tell him to come in'.

With no one to blame, his brain just seized up.

It can't be six cards, unless it is. No de jong or Hong Kong Bommel, but this should be an open game (in which case surely the gaps get shown up) or the two sides will get petulant.

One ref has to take a stand and show they're better than the others. If the afternoon game is similar and the team news is reasonable, I wouldn't like to lay the double at 10/1.

Sending off in the game at 3/1 is nittier, as obviously are the singles.  But it's a free dart, so let's be less BDO and more flamboyantly PDC.

Personally, I think Costa Rica get found out today and the 2-0 the world and his wife are predicting is being too kind. But that's just an armchair view.

Pretty sure I put up Mukhadram each way at Ascot here too.  Obviously a very good ride helped here.
Congrats to Simontaur who put up Trading Leather at 25/1 here too.

No Boyle account here, they are the absolute worst. Have one with ShornyMack though, and they seem fine so far. Rec we open an account with them.

For those interested, I highly recommend watching this, tremendous entertainment.

Tino Best (?) just bowled to Lord Brian Lara. Lara edges it fine, it runs down towards the boundary.

Who fields it?

Tino! Whilst Lara almost literally walks three runs.

Brett Lee's first ball to Shane Warne? Chest high beamer.

Fair dinkum.
