1st visit to this thread (gulp). Doing the scoop6 selections today next door (with very much needed help from Joesman), so came here for inspiration/help. Tough day to select. Even tougher to trim down my initial chooses to fit into out perm. Had BE tip down before I saw it though, so that has to be a good sign.

What is your overall position, from this thread, in relation to profit/loss?

Hi Alan, (Port Vale supporter, I believe),

I don't have access to the Spready right now, but last time I looked, we were making about 3.7%, over some 3,500 bets, on over £100,000 staked.

I'll try & find the exact numbers shortly, but that's not far out.

Think this is how we stand.

We have been going 2 years & 6 months so far.

We have placed 3,763 bets,

We have staked £117,201.

We have turned a profit of £4,080.01.

We have a positive ROI of 3.48%.

So by following Fred "blind", you'd have made £4,000. Those who are more selective should make a goodly deal more.

And it's all free.

Not bad, imo.

Valverde on todays TT

Quote
"I already know tomorrow's time trial. I trained here in June and we'll check it again this evening to remember all details before the racing. It's a demanding one: 54km, with small slopes - anything can happen.

"You can't get crazy about GC time gaps on the bike: you just give your 100%, go flat out... just like that. I have performed well in TT's this season, I became Spanish champion last month, and I think I can do well. I have good legs and would like to go for both third and second place. I might stay with what I have right now at the end, but I'm confident: I think I can do well.

"Tomorrow is a very important day for me. I'm looking for the second place as I'm only a few seconds behind Peraud and Pinot, it's going to be a great fight. I think Peraud is a better specialist than Pinot. Well' see. With more than 50 km, its' a long and demanding time trial. I'm confident and I hope it's going to work out. I already checked it but I'm going back to see it again."

Quite impressed! May have to pop in on a Saturday morning to get on some of all this guaranteed free money.

Bit of a speciality bet today for the Commonwealth games - Weightlifting.   I quite like Michaela Breeze at 15/8 to overcome young Zoe Smith who is a 2/5 shot.  Michaela recently came out of retirement and has decided no matter what happens today she is retiring  after the games.  I understand that she had lifted over 25kg more than the games qualifier last year and decided to get back into training for it.  For the most part in the last few years she has concentrated on coaching and media work but she still holds the british snatch and total record and has the strength from lifting in heavier bodyweights and the psychology of knowing that she can lift more than the odds on favourite.   Also the fact that she has a better snatch (insert joke) than Zoe means that come the clean & jerk part of the comp she should have a lead and that applies the pressure both mentally and physically to your opponent.

Based on her Olympic lifts ans age Zoe is the one most likely to improve but for me 2/5 is short.  I'd have had it closer as its between the two its really a flip as they should be comfortable ahead of the other girls.  Unfortunately only Sky seem to be covering the market.  So probably not good for Fred but for anyone else that can, I'd be inclned to have as much as £50 @ 15/8.

It's 11.0 to lay and 13.0 to back.

Therefore it's a great arb.

Personal opinions don't really come into it.

I am a stoke fan myself.  Live in stone.  Assume you are local to me as well.  I wasn't putting it up as a bet.  I was just letting several of our regs who are big arbers that there was a decent opportunity there.  If you think 12/1 is poor value maybe you should get laying teh 10/1 people are queuing up for on betfair as we speak Wink

There is a reason why Stoke got him on the cheap.  He hasn't performed to his potential recently at several big clubs.  Not entirely sure a move to sunny stoke is going to suit him personally but we shall see.

Sorry above might have sounded rude, was just trying to explain the main reason the 'tip' had been posted.

Of course if we are debating whether or not 12-1 is value for Stoke to go down then opinion is very much appreciated. Smiley

Personally think at 12-1 I am tempted to have a bet on Stoke to go down, feel their away form is going to do for them one of these days over a season.

And surely sides will get used to the brit eventually...prob not I know!

Hope they don't go down myself as went a lot whilst there at uni and love the club.

Apologise to any one in thread for taking exception to my fun post. I will keep personal opinions to myself in future.

I live the other end by the Esso Garage.  FWIW i wouldn't be rushing to back Stoke at 12/1 to go down either.  I just don't want to tie money up all season laying them at 10/1 to go down.
