ca nt c and p from the site but we are on

11/4 Peoples republic £20 chess olympiad. 888

Excellent. The opening ceremony is this evening. Here's the official twitter account:

https://twitter.com/bakuchessol2016?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

It is all happening in Baku, Azerbaijan. This is the birthplace of Garry Kasparov.

Thanks Tal.

Now we can expect some fun reports, and some of those crosstable things. Good fun for £20, this,

And soon, we have SCD.

I'll definitely help with updates. There won't be a crosstable this time, though, sadly, as the format isn't an all-play-all affair. There are 181 teams in the open section, representing 176 countries (the host nation is allowed 3 teams, plus there's a team each of the best blind players, the best physically disabled players and the best deaf players who aren't already playing for their countries).

LOL @ the idea of the Chess Olympiad being all-play-all!

It would last nearly as long as the Rugby World Cup if it was.

Cheesy

Much like the rugby world cup, there are only a handful of teams who can actually win it.

Morning Tighty.

Superleague tonight sees Wigan host Widnes, and it should be a comfortable night for Wigan. I would expect that by now people will know who I am going to propose for anytime try scorer and I shan't disappoint. John Bateman is the value here with the expectation that Wigan will score 6 or more tries.

Suggest £20 Bateman @ 6/4 with betfred. I think you should be quick placing this one.

Wowza that didn't go to plan! UL

For those who don't venture outside of Fred, earlier in the week, I posted a sort of NFL preview elsewhere

http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=67137.0

Tikay asked me to suggest some bets from it for Fred. Unlike Tighty's magnum opus, mine was more a sports preview than a betting one. Nevertheless, I have a few thoughts on things I fancy, so have done a bit of research on prices this evening and have a bet I think Fred should get a decent position on. This is which team will have the worst (win-loss) record in the NFL this season.

There are a few things to take into account, here. You want a team that doesn't look like scoring, doesn't defend well, has a tough division (six of sixteen games are against the other teams in your division), has a tough schedule generally and is either injury-ridden, terrible or both. 3 wins will be an outright winner. 4 wins might be, but could be a tie.

Favourites for this market are the Cleveland Browns. They are in rather a transitional phase, it is fair to say, but have a new (and widely regarded as competent) head coach, a new QB and a few reasonable players. They're a poor team, don't get me wrong, but not useless and 5 wins is far from an unrealistic target.

Earlier in the week, I wrote:

The San Francisco 49ers are a complete mess. They have a quarterback competition between a guy who’d not make many rosters in the NFL and a guy who almost won the Super Bowl a few years ago, but who has lost all confidence and now has fans burning his jerseys outside the ground, following his decision to protest during the National Anthem. As if that wasn’t enough, they have the worst WR corps in the NFL (Torrey Smith, Eric Rogers, Quinton Patton and Aaron Burbridge. You’re welcome), Carlos Hyde is a back-up running back but is starting his second year as the main man, the tight ends are fantasy irrelevant and their O-Line is simply hideous. The Head Coach is Chip Kelly, who left Philadelphia in a mess and is one season away from adding his name to the list of successful college coaches who couldn’t cut it in the big leagues. They are my tip to get the first overall pick in 2017. This, in my opinion, is the worst team in the NFL.

The Browns have the 21st hardest schedule this year out of the 32 teams, based on the opponents' win-loss records from last season. Guess who has the hardest in the NFL this season. Yes. The San Francisco 49ers. Seems rather harsh, but them's the breaks.

Stat monsters, Football Outsiders, said this, in an article about which team was least likely to make the playoffs:

Cleveland is actually forecast to be the worst team in the league by our DVOA projections, but it is San Francisco that has the lowest odds of making the postseason. This is what happens when a bad team plays in what is otherwise the best division in football. The 49ers have the hardest projected schedule in the league. We have Seattle and Arizona projected as the top two teams, and if both of those teams somehow stumble, the Rams have a defense good enough to sneak themselves into the postseason. Meanwhile, the 49ers will go three-and-out over and over, and they will do it really, really fast. At least there's still some talent on this defense: NaVorro Bowman will lead the league in tackles because he is still a very good player and will always be on the field.

The NFL Network, it is fair to say, isn't exactly behind the team:

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-training-camps/0ap3000000678383/Predicting-49ers-wins-and-losses

The niners finished 5-11 last year. All these things combined, what price they finish 2016 with the worst record?

http://www.oddschecker.com/american-football/nfl-specials/regular-season/worst-record

7/1 says Paddy. Fair play to him: he's taking a position on the Browns. However, I think he's backing the wrong horse.

I know Fred can't get on with Paddy (although it might be worth trying, given he's clearly laying it). However, I can. Fred can have up to £50 with me. Confirm and it (or less) is yours.

Recommend £50 on the San Francisco 49ers to have the worst record in the NFL in the 2016 season at 7/1 with Paddy.

Nice write up Tal.

80/1 Dallas looks pretty good to me as well.

Fascinating stuff, Tal.

It's up to Tighty, of course, and he understands NFL well, but I'd like to reserve our position.

So yes please, £50, and if Tighty does not want it for Fred (very unlikely) I will take it myself, if that's ok with you.

I'll finally of finished trudging through my record predictions today (kinda wish I hadn't of bothered!) Only got the NFC West to go. But I'm pretty confident that I've got the 49ers with the worst record overall as well. I've actually got the Browns surprisingly high with 6 wins. They're at least interesting on offence. The 49ers have practically nothing. And as said are in a division with 2 teams who should go deep into the post season and quite possibly one of the superbowl winners. I do have the Rams on worse than Jeff Fishers yearly target of 7-9 though. Which I think was rather harsh on them.

I had the NFC south too harshly marked but being the second to last division I was handcuffed by most of the results. And in fairness I do think they've got tough schedules.

Pulis’ relationship with West Brom board deteriorates over transfers.

That can't be a good thing for the Club, Pulis does not like to be messed around & would walk if need be.

There has not been much feedback to your suggestion of WBA being value @ 7/2 for relegation.

I think a modest investment is in order, so go ahead if you fancy it & can still get a value price.

Pulis's price to be first PL manager to leave his post ranges from Evs to 5-1.

Ladbrokes and betfairnosportsbook only at 7/2

perhaps a home for the £20 from the void bet earlier in the week on your next somnolent perambulance?

Had to look up somnolent. What a wonderful word, it kind of sounds what it is.

synonyms: sleepy, drowsy, tired, languid, languorous, heavy-eyed, dozy, nodding, groggy, half asleep, asleep on one's feet, yawning; lethargic, sluggish, inactive, enervated, torpid, comatose; informalsnoozy, dopey, yawny; literaryslumberous; rareoscitant, slumbersome

OK, noted.

PS - Did you see Tal's suggested NFL bet? What did you decide?
