I like a football bet at the weekend.
Notts County at 17/10 against Grimsby.
On way back from York races after Ebor meeting I got talking to four older Notts County fans on their way back from seeing them win at Hartlepool.
They said they'd had a slow start in first couple of games but John Sheridan who manages them now had got them playing well and were looking very good going forward with players like Alan Smith pulling the strings in midfield and John Stead up front.
I think they will have too much for Grimsby.
Whilst its still early in the season, I think 17/10 is too big.
Recommend £20 bet. I can accommodate on bet every day if you want it.
Perhaps get a view from Tighty/others.
no particular view from me
will leave it a while to see if anyone else has league 2 knowledge from this season
no feedeback good or bad
its bet365 only so if you can help please place ti and let us know
£20 on at 17/10.
Thanks Rick.
Settle up after the game to save toing & froing?
Hopefully, you'll need my Bank Details.
Go County.

Afternoon Mr T.
Your mission, should you choose to do it, is to get £20 on Youhzny to win a set v Djokovic tonight. He is 7/4 with ladbrokes. We know that Djokovic has injury concerns and he now faces a player with 2wins under his belt. Youhzny also has a decent record against Djokovic with 3 wins in 9 meetings so he is not going to be phased in the slightest.
Suggest £20 Youhzny to win a set at 7 to 4 with ladbrokes.

I think there is a small balance owing either from me or you from a previous bet. I'll check my PM's with the details and message you after the weekend.
Happy to settle up whenever it suits.

What happens if you've backed Djokivic in straight sets and his opponent has been forced to quit?

Djokovic is getting a bye to the final at this rate too.

For the 5th ODI, is Morgan a touch of value for MOTM? England rightly strong favourites and MOTM awards usually go to top order batsman. Root 7/1, Hales and Roy 8/1 then a big jump to Morgan at 16/1 despite batting 4?
He's in decent nick (33*, 68, 57* and 11 this series). Has 2 50's from 5 ODI knocks at Cardiff.
He's not massively prolific at picking up MOTM awards (1 every 15 or so ODI's, improves to 1 every 13.5 games at home) but a lot of those games were in a side that didn't win too often.
Not sure if this would be seen as a positive, or a negative, or irrelevant, but he's yet to decide whether he wants to tour Bangladesh for safety reasons. May be a distraction or he'll want to go big to ensure his place is 100% safe for the India tour if he chooses not to go. Whole team should be gunning for a whitewash but, as skip, it would be an extra feather in his cap.
Any thoughts? MOTM awards is sometimes hard to fathom (personally thought Stokes should have got itin the 4th ODI, not Bairstow) so would be small stakes, and beteveryday are top price.

No real knowledge of League 2, but Sheridan did an excellent job at Newport when he replaced Terry Butcher early last season. Unfortunately, he didnt stay long, before his old club Oldham came calling, and he worked miracles in keeping them up in League 1. Notts County must have made him a good offer to drop back into League 2. Seems an excellent manager to me.

No dramas in the opening round for the Chinese men in Baku. A comfortable 4-0 sweep of Kosovo. A beautiful sacrifice by Wei Yi was the pick of the games from the match:

All the big seeds won.
A terrific report of the day's play (and the frankly farcical organisation of the event):

China play 64th seed Belgium on Saturday in Round 2 of 11.

Although the F1 practice sessions today were relatively quiet, there were a number of different programmes being run out there which is making analysis exceptionally difficult.
Here are my bet suggestions:
Race Winner - Nico Rosberg
@ >EVS with various. Standard bet really. £20.
http://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-one/italian-grand-prix/winner
Podium Finish - Sebastian Vettel
@ >EVS with various. There is a clear and substantial gap between Ferrari and Red Bull this weekend, and you'd have to say that Sebastian will have the pace to beat Kimi. There is a chance that Red Bull or Force India could do something different with the strategy, but enough to negate a 0.25 second per lap delta? I don't see it happening. £25.
http://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-one/italian-grand-prix/top-3-finish
Points Finish - Pascal Wehrlein
@ 9/1 with PatrickPower. This car has had some real pace during the last few races, but for various reasons, it hasn't actually been reflected in the lap times. Investment is starting to happen at Manor and they are beginning to takes steps forward. Monza presents an interesting challenge for them; most teams will be running a low downforce package at this circuit. For Manor, their regular package gives them a high top speed anyway (due to a comparative fundamental lack of downforce). The interesting factor is that if you rank the teams in terms of downforce level (high-to-low), Manor will be near the top for this race - as all the other teams are using a dedicated low-downforce package. I'm not sure if that made any sense because it's a hard concept to explain and I'm struggling to keep my eyes open - but basically they will have a high top speed, coupled with a decent level of downforce, so they're a team to look out for this weekend. Even excluding this one unique racetrack, they are on the up, and it's only a matter of time before they score more points. Suggest £10.

While Fred is just stretching in bed and sipping his first cup of char, I'll explain the format of the Chess Olympiad.
- It is a team event
- Teams of 4
- Play in strength (rating) order
- Match result counts first (2 points for a team win, 1 for a 2-2 draw, 0 for a loss)
- 11 rounds
- One match per day, with a day off on 7 September.
- All teams play all rounds
- Each round, your team will play a team on the same (or as close to it as possible) number of match points
- You can only play a team once, so there will be times where you play a team on fewer or more points, but the idea is the cream rises and the weaker teams get games against people of their own strength.
- Time control is a little quicker than elite tournaments, but more like national circuit times, so shouldn't be any particular problem for any of these guys and girls.
- There are two competitions: an Open section and a Women's section.
- A lot of teams (particularly the better ones) will have 5 players and rotate the squad a bit
- There are individual prizes (gold, silver and bronze) for the best individual scores on each board (best score on board 1, board 2, etc)
