He'll strengthen them for sure, He'll save them 12 to 15 points a season" John Terry on Petr Cech to Arsenal.

great signing for the next two years isn't it?

I seem to be in a minority who thinks that Ospina was/is fine.  I don't think Cech will make that much difference. Certainly nothing like 15 points!

Can't see that he can save them an extra 12 to 15 points.

I don't think we needed him at all but i reckon it's one of those where if a player of Cech's calibre becomes available, you just sign him. Wish it'd been that way when Fabregas was offered to us but i guess that was a much bigger expense when we already have so many accomplished CAM's who'd be much harder to bench.

Ospina will be on his way out then. After one perfectly solid season where he barely put a foot wrong lol. AKB though Wink

I can think of at least two points that Ospina cost Arsenal - the goal against Swansea. Those small errors magnified over a whole season can really add up quickly. Think this is a significant signing for Arsenal - he's younger than Van Der Sar when he joined Utd and Lehmann at Arsenal. Could solve that position for the next 6 years.

Meh. Goalkeepers make errors that cost points.

I can think of two ridiculous mistakes Courtois made last season, and he's supposed to be the best in the world.

Ospina is/was fine.

They would have been much better off using the money adding to the £25 mill they are going to spend on a centre back.

Maybe I'm naive about modern football but if I were a centre back with a few clubs willing to pay me roughly the same, I'd be more inclined to sign with Arsenal if they had Cech in goal rather than Woj or Ospina.

I'm far from convinced that this a done deal, way too much animosity between AW and maureen for it to be straightforward.

I'd be delighted to see it happen, Cech would be a great role-model for Woj.

No money will be spent on a CB this window i don't think. Wenger surely won't feel the need to intentionally break up Merterscienly, or spend for a player to sit on the bench when Gabriel and a developing Chambers are already sitting there. Plus he's talked before about how Monreal and Debuchy 'can also play there'. Think he believes CB is covered.

Merse has always been bitter about AW selling him to Middlesboro' very soon after arriving, hence the constant pops.

I mean, you might be right about Merson's motives for saying this.

But you cannot deny he's  got a point.

He has got a point.

Every time I think about Merse being sold to 'boro' after his well-documented "troubles", I recall Big Ron saying that he'd be alright there as long as they didn't sign a couple of Colombians.
