Thierry has his say on the back page of The Times today

Bugger!

For reasons I won't bore you with, I started work early today, 4am, way before my newspaper shop opened, so today is the first day in living memory (holidays aboard excepted) when I've not got The Times.

I'll try pick a copy up later.

5 Down is a bit easy, but I'm intrigued by 26 Across.

That should keep the Wenger Out Mob quiet for a bit.

On the basis we hadnt beaten a top 3 team since the Queen was a girl, the law of averages, or variance, as the kids say, was steeply in our favour. Wink

Pleasant none the less Ralph. Very pleasing.

I think that now would be a perfect time to give Alexis Sanchez that mid-season break which he richly deserves, what with the cup game away at Brighton next weekend.

I'm not taking The Lizard's men lightly mind you but we do have a few back from hospital who need a run-out such as Ozil and Theo, and Alexis has done more than his fair share thus far.

I like the look of this young Brazilian lad Gabriel Paulista and he could be just the job apart from the fact that he's not qualified to play in the Premier League.

AW seems awfully confident about getting a "special talent" WP so let's hope he's not bluffing.

I would be very worried

Had a very good season but the yellow submarines have a solid system and are the masters at getting rid at the best price at the right time

The Brazilians have literally never heard of him. Personally I think fazio is a good defender and spurs results with him starting are impressive.

However plenty think he is a lumbering oaf he had a much more solid profile than Paulista does.

Could just be improving of course but I'd always be wary buying on the back of one excellent half season in a well drilled unit.

You don't ever seem to have much positive news about Arsenal horsey.

Are you a secret spud?

Try again

Be amazed if you have watched more of him than me. If you disagree with any of my points on him say so.

The yellow submarines got a cracking deal here

Time will tell and as you say I've not seen him play yet.

The selling clubs invariably get the best of deals done in January.

I'm still happy to take AW's opinion of a player slightly ahead of yours.

It's hardly a judge of a player is it?

He is a regular starter for one of the best defensive units in Spain not an unknown

My query is the price and the fact 12 months ago you could have got him for a tenth of the price.

It sounds like you're saying that it's good business for both then.

Even AW can't be expected to be clairvoyant all the time.

Wasn't it you that doubted AW's wisdom in buying Alexis Sanchez in the summer?
