Pretty confused why you keep referring to moaning fans when I haven't said one word about that, but anyho, you still didn't answer my hypothetical question ?

Sorry, I confused "moaning" with "fans opinions", though that line is blurry, as fans generally only voice opinions loudly when they disagree with what the Club does.

I did answer the hypo question though. They won't stop attending games (I gave an example), or watching on TV. They won't.

I think the hypo question should be addressed to Argue, not me - it was he who alluded to the affect on revenues if no fans attended, not me. My point was that they won't stop attending or watching on TV.

Well you didn't because I've neither mentioned moaning or opinions.

I think it should be addressed to you mostly as you seem to have the strongest opinion regards the value of fans. Clearly you haven't answered the question you've just said it can't happen, but that's not really how hypotheticals work is it ? So I'll ask you again as someone who knows a lot about business and a lot about Sky could you answer my hypothetical question please ?

They are just my opinions, Ray, I'n not claiming any special knowledge of the subject and I'm not trying to be awkward. Just my opinions.

In your hypo example, if every fan, globally, stopped going to games, or watching on tv, football would die. We both know that.

I think all of these business' have the same attitude that the fans don't matter because they are very easily replaced, and there's no question that is true. But maybe, very unlikely (0% in most people's eyes I'm sure) but maybe, one day people just get sick of the whole setup and there's a mass revolt from all fans and everything goes tits up. Who could've predicted 15 years ago how powerful social media would become, who knows were it will go in the next 15. I know I sound stupid saying this lolz, because right now it's really not likely at all to happen, but this whole idea of the fans not mattering just seems a little short sighted to me.

Morning Ray.

Don't think I ever suggested "the fans don't matter", my line was that they do not necessarily....

1) Have the RIGHT to know all the ins & outs of team selection.

2) Don't have the RIGHT to demand (say) that the Chairman be sacked. It's the Chairman's money, he can do as he likes.

I just think the sense of entitlement has got a bit out of balance. Sure, interact with the fans, but when fans claim team selection is wrong, they are amateurs, suggesting that full time pros don't know what they are doing, so not much weight is applied to their opinions. .

I was looking at this from the brilliant swissramble blog on football finances:

Interesting seeing how matchday income is relatively flat and the extent of the growth in broadcasting revenue and all before the mega TV deal kicks in from next year.

I have just found a somewhat mind-boggling statistic:

Arsene Wenger could lose his next 100 games and still have the best %age win-rate of any Arsenal manager in the history of the club.

finding a stat that suits one case. we can all do that

skewed by the invincibles team, a team that had enormous talent and one genuine competitor and cleaned up

wonder what it looks like since 2005 onwards
