Really upsetting, hate Price, love Gary...

Gary really let himself down there, totally lost his mind and no idea why he let it happen, his last throw of the game sums it up, 221 he hit S20 S20 (181 left and for reasons only he can tell you, went for T11, Price's antics are annoying, granted, but Gary is a seasoned pro and SURELY knew roughly what to expect from the game, should have just let Gerwyn do his thing and ignored it, rising to it like that was pretty rookie from a man who should know better.

Having said all that, fatigue an obvious factor, i'd say 70+% of Gary's T20 attempts went low, in a way they probably shouldn't have the 3rd biggest game of the year on a day where the players have to play back to back BO31 games.

I think you gotta give Price some credit in the fact that he endured the day at an intense level of high performance better than any other player out of the 4 semi finalists and showed quite a lot of clutch in some big moments...still I think he's a massive bellend and was rooting HARD against him with 0 money on the line.

I thought from just watching Price this week that his heavy scoring seems a lot more consistent now but he was very lucky to get past Whitlock earlier in the week who effectively handed him the game.  I didn't see last night's final so can't comment on what happened.

Glad Barney is going to do a 'global world tour' effectively next year prior to retiring.  Surely it could easily be possible that he doesn't qualify for next year's worlds as his planned swansong?  That would be a shame.  Still my fav game of all time the 2007 world final.  He has been as important as Taylor in building the game to what it is now for me.  Rolls Royce of a player at his peak.  Effortless scoring.  Think its the right time for him to go though.  Assume its 1.01 he gets a PL swansong next year as a wildcard?

They should look at the scheduling for this. Start on the Friday night meaning they can then have the semis and final on different days. Two BO31 matches on the same day is tough. There’s a definite advantage in being in the right half of the draw as it stands. Rest day Saturday and then first on in the semi in the afternoon.

Just had a quick look and since they have had the current format of the 20 finalists only 6 have averaged higher in the final than in the semi. I then had a look at the Matchplay which is over a similar length but on separate days and in the same time frame 12 of the 20 finalists averaged higher. It definitely devalues a week long tournament to have semis and final on the same day.

There is no need for the 1/4 finals to be best of 31 imo.  That is the problem.  You could have all 4 quarters on the friday if they were best of 19 which is more than enough.  The quarter finals should't be the same length as the semis and final imo.

Yeah that’s another solution. That was the format for the first two renewals then they changed to the current format.

Bald tipping his toe into the darts sponsorship market.  Matchplay winner should get £200k for me so the rankings can be more balanced and less top heavy than being controlled by the worlds.  Biggest pay jump from 1/4's to semis than from semis to runner up which is very weird.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Players_Championship_Finals

Wade has got a lovely looking draw in the top section of the field given the unique seeding of this event based on the floor events OOM for the seasoon not the actual world rankings.

Price drawn to play Jackpot potentially in the 2nd round which is interesting as is Whitlock v Ando in the second round.

Intereesting battle to not finish 16th in the official order of merit as well (and be forced to face MVG in the last 16 of the worlds the following month).  This is the last event prior to the worlds.  Jackpot/Barney/Cullen involved realistically in this battle.  Finishing 14th/15th and face out of form Snake/Cross is a big carrot for them this weekend.  Barney doesn't play this weekend and jackpot will be very keen to leapfrog him into 15th.

mensur (wiithdrawn this weekend) and price look locked into the dream 6th and 7th spots to avoid Ando and MVG in the 1/4 final stages of the worlds unless Whitlock or Wade win this weekend.

So the (much weaker) bottom half of the world's draw is likely to be Snake/Cross/Price/Mensor/Cullen/Jackpot with the other two seeds 10-11 being between Smith/Chis/White.  Lot of out of form operators in that group and a lot of boys having a dream shot at a huge rankings surge potentially.  Surely its M Smith's time to finally get a decent draw and do something major with it this year?  Or can Jackpot take advantage of the hopefully soft side of the draw and go on his usual xmas heater.  The next month could put him properly back in the big time (and PL) for the foreseeable future.

Personally would love to see a Smith/Jackpot semi

Just the £35k done on Price at 1.01 to win his match when he never had a match dart at a double.  Incredible scenes
