Of course i wanted the call but only a bad player would make it and those of you backing the caller are as bad a player as him.

Nobodys backing the call by Alan. Not one person has said it was a good call (unless they were being sarcastic).

What we are all saying is that sometimes, you have to take a look at what you did wrong in a hand. Yes he made a terrible call, but you made a bad peel pre and the shove is also ridic. The biggest way to improve in poker is not to look at "OMG HE HIT A JACK FFS", but "what did I do wrong in this hand". You gain nothing from complaining, but everything from self analysis

one of the best posts I have seen on blonde.

staw poll how many people would call pre

I for one would say no

Unlucky cracksniper, you played it great and that nasty man went and hit his three outer. Such a horrible call, you should be the one with the ten bags not him.

Mods:  I think we can lock the thread now someone has told him what he wanted to hear.

I for one wish Alan hadn't called. Would have prevented this thread. If only we had an Austrian bodybuilder...

Initial call isn't terrible but calling a bb raise to play a pot oop is never going to make money.

Definite fold pre for me.

I see it differently and don't think Alans call was that bad due to the pre-flop play.

You are out of position in the SB and flat a mp opening call.
Your range imo is small pair or connectors - not a 'good' ace or any ace for that matter, as you raise pre here.
You confirm the range by flatting Alans (good), pre-flop raise.
You then shove an A 9 3 board after check raising - fair enough, but you were almost inducing a call here with an over shove.

You played weak out of position pre, then induced a call.
For these reasons, I can't blame Alan.

Range this range that what bs. And for him who said the all in was ridic your a donk. The pot was over 15000 id taken a bit of a gamble pre yes because of the value to call.  And id like to play any of you who would put their tourney life on the line with one pair facing an all in. He was gutted when he saw what he,d done to himself and then hit a 3 outer ffs. Any1 who thinks he,s in front with AJo facing this bet must be mad. He even told himself what i had and still made the call. Thats fin ridic.
