Jim Best is most known for withdrawing his horses on the day. Can't believe anyone in history has done it more. Not sure what's in it for him though.

The Geraghty non-trier ban at the weekend is the most ridic thing ever. All jockeys bar the winner got the race wrong. You can't single out Geraghty just coz his rattled home for second. Winning jockey rode them to sleep.

Same thing happened at Ffos Las a couple of weeks ago, but you can't give every jockey bar the winner a ban for being a non-trier.

Does anyone know the backstory on this?

http://www.racingpost.com/news/horse-racing/dishonest-jim-best-given-four-year-ban-in-non-triers-case/2058248/#newsArchiveTabs=last7DaysNews

It looks like the Trainer tried to palm the whole thing off on the Jockey, if I read it correctly?

The Jockey may be a wrong 'un, I've no idea, but if his Trainer told him to give them an easy ride out the back, it's not an easy spot for a young man.

Jim best is an "interesting" man

Interestingly he claimed two flat horses last week expect a Mrs best to be training soon

I suspect the knives are out for him for his general way of going to market.

How many times have I gone to bed after looking at the markets at seen 3-1 the field run of the mill race and woken to find a Jim Best horse has been backed from leftfield into odds on, after several quiet runs(ergo a ride from an instructed jockey to go easy on it), or as John says, a purchase from France or Outer Mongolia, that know one has ever heard of.

You know it will win, but just can't get involved because there is no value in it at all, it would be blind faith in knowing he has been "playing the game".

This will probably be why no one trusts or cares for Mr Best.

Is the young jockey likely to be outcast if he gets his license back?

I remember a flat jockey from a few years back receiving pretty reprehensible treatment when he outed some issues, I think his name was Newman?  Scottish fella, I read it in one of our daily's.

I think best picked the wrong apprentice this time. Paul John is obviously a bit full of himself (hence 4 trainers in a year) but he has his own mind and decided to tell the truth when so many job jockeys would not.

Brave at best of times but especially so when you are dealing with jim

Justin Newman.  Think he had weight issues as well tbf.

He probably will be but more because he has already done the houses a bit. As the panel said he can certainly ride when allowed to so suspect he gets another chance if he wants it.

Problem is he will be at the bottom of the rung again, not very fashionable and likely riding 100s shots . Usually they comeback for a few months realise they are not going to get the rides anyone needs and give up

Think they must have backed yanworth, it was pointless, especially in ireland where people try to nick it in so many races. He follows the third favourite into the straight whos tanked, he needs the front one to stop but why wouldnt he when everything else is struggling. People nick races, if it didnt happen people wouldnt try.....

I still dont see how, it just cant.

Rock the World is interesting in the first race at aintree esp ew if the 8 hold. Hes never far away and there was chunks for him at chelts where he did well enough giving weight to two in front and 4ths won since in a decent race at kelso. This is tougher but stable are prety picky and would have thought they fancy him if hes not being saved for ireland.

Think on the fringe might be a bit vulnerable at this distance these days (wasnt travelling at chelts so may have needed the half mile to get home). No idea what to bet tho, old major malarkey seems in good spirits and has run well here and dineur seems interesting at a big price

Back the winner PdP

My old memory had it that OTF pissed up but watching the replay back today, it was PDP that lead them a merry one until the last when OTF came back on the bit and in the end only won a few lengths.

Even an OTF fan like me would rather do PDP  ew.

Hoping to see a major upset if an old friend can continue to build on leaving Ms Lavelle. Mountain to climb for Daymar Bay but always felt he was destined for big things years ago. I shall Chuck some shrapnel at him to for old times sake.

Hoping to see Saphir ruffle the feathers of the big three and reckon 16s  looks big ew against them. For a horse Nichols always felt was a future Gold Cup winner, he seems to have been written off rather quickly.

I was looking foward to Aintree this week, but some of the prices for the races are just lol.

The whole reaction to the Gold Cup is just lol. I don't believe for a single minute that Don Cossack was ever going to get beat, but yet they think "cue card was coming to win the race before falling", I do not think so. I potentially think it would have struggled for second with Djakadam. 11/10 for Cue Card, no thank you.

Ivanovic- G is just lol at 11/10 also. Really? Apple Jade I shall be on.

They aren't giving anything away on Thursday that is for sure.

If the horses you don't like are too short, surely that's good?
