I love the cup but as I posted on a fb group last night, we have played more games than any other epl side this year, we have 9 players getting treatment for knocks or injuries that have played for us this season just now, less than 72 hours since we reached the league cup final and potential 3 more fa cup games before that Wembley date (draw v Arsenal would of meant replay 5th round and another replay). Let the squad recover now one game a week until the final and get there rested and ready to play.

Must've been so worrying to have to fret the possibility of a draw for 15 mins

But you play Tuesday?  Best 11 then and again on Saturday?

we kinda threw the UEFA cup too and looked like the EFL cup wednessday was by far our strongest midweek team this season and yeah we basically have to sides one for weekends one for midweek
with romeu VVD and forster only guys playing 2 full games a week

with VVD injured last thing we needed was romeu picking up and injury or suspension

Fuming about sacko, how many players have we sold Liverpool?  They reject our loan attempt then loan him to palace, gutted we didn't get a CB with Vvd out for potentially 3 months we don't have any cover for another injury

We were fantastic and the luck was just not with us today.

Some brilliant tributes to Markus Liebherr. Regardless of the result, a very special day to be a Southampton fan.

Bust up at training today and Redmond, Bertrand and VVD all saying they will ask for a move if Puel is there next season. Also rumours of him being sacking and replace by Raneri in the next 48 hours.

It is looking increasingly likely that Puel is going to lose his job at the end of the season.

Despite likely finishing 8th and reaching a cup final that we were very unlucky not to win.

There is a lot of bad feeling around the ground. My dad informed me when we last spoke that he has decided not to renew his season ticket unless Puel leaves! I was pretty shocked by that given he has been a season ticket holder since I was born. He is prone to OTT opinion when it comes to football but I didn't realise it had got that bad having not been to as many games this season. Apparently everyone sitting around him are also not renewing.

This is the first season where we haven't improved league position for 7 seasons.

2010 - 7th league 1
2011 - 2nd league 1 (promoted)
2012 - 2nd championship (promoted)
2013 - 14th prem
2014 - 8th prem
2015 - 7th prem
2016 - 6th prem
2017 - Huh??

It would still seem incredibly harsh on paper to sack Puel but the football has been dire for the whole home campaign. Just 41 goals in 37 games. Just 17 goals scored in 18 home games.

Would be very surprised if this happens. Puel may just about survive as there are just not a lot of feasible candidates out there in my view.
