So what solution would you propose that keeps the peace in Ireland and respects the referendum result?

Give Ireland back to the Irish.  Simples.

As that is not going to happen, then it's not "simples" you have to square off the republic and the DUP

Law of unintended consequences for hard Brexiters well in play

If the DUP and their hanger on's want to be British so much ship them off to Bolton or some other god forsaken place and let the Island of Ireland North and South get on with things.

I have seen many comments from educated professionals who would have traditionally come from the Unionist persuasion over the last few days round on the bigots of the DUP.

They have different legislation on equal marriage and abortion that differs hugely from the UK as a whole they are a bunch of crazed religious Zealots.  There is no place for them in a modern Ireland.

The Union is surviving in name only at the moment.

"I am not a fan of economic models because they have all proven wrong" is right up there with "Britain has had enough of experts".  Maybe, just maybe, they could have tried understanding the outputs of the models before screwing over the country so royally?

This is incredible isn't it? Utter shambles

Chancellor Philip Hammond: The Cabinet has not yet had a full discussion of what should be the Government's preferred "end state position" for the UK after Brexit.   It's official. HMG has no agreed destination on Brexit. 18 months on.

I know it's wrong, but it did tickle me when I read that Arlene Foster had refused to accept repeated calls from Theresa May for over 24 hours until earlier today, while their underlings were negotiating.

The DUP is now the most important political party in Europe.

Brexit whackamole:

1. Dublin needs phase 1 border reassurance
2. solve Irish issue —> regulatory alignment - create DUP problem
3. solve DUP issue —> whole UK reg alignment - create Rees Mogg/Brexiter problem
4. Solve JRM issue —> create Grieve/ SM Tory problem and return to 1

Sam Freedman of the times

"Main reason I don't think they'll be an election next year is it's no one's interest:

Tories/DUP don't want to risk PM Corbyn
Labour don't want to be saddled with Brexit implementation
SNP/LDs have almost no safe seats"

"Theresa May’s Tories are such a disaster that we almost forgot how incompetent Corbyn is"

Corbyn knows that his front bench has outlined at least ten different models for Brexit, he personally being responsible for at least three of them

a 220k U.K gov't petition from 2015 calling for an end to all immigration. The patterns in the petition vs what would transpire a year later at the Referendum are something
