So what solution would you propose that keeps the peace in Ireland and respects the referendum result?

Give Ireland back to the Irish.  Simples.

Reunification parties polled 38% in the 2015 GE,  41% in the 2017 GE

In the North.

The only way for a definitive answer is an all Ireland poll.

The Brexit Belfast Trilemma:

1. Ireland’s interpretation of Good Friday Agreement meaning regulatory alignment of NI consistent with no border.
2. DUP /ERG demanding NI leave EU in exactly same way as GB
3. Whole UK leaving Customs Union & Single Market

Only 2 of the 3 possible

John McDonnell: leave single market
Tom Watson: stay in SM & CU
Jon Ashworth, Jenny Chapman: leave SM
Diane Abbott: keep freedom of movement
Corbyn, Keir Starmer: end FoM
Barry Gardiner: staying in CU a disaster
Corbyn: whip vote against SM & CU
Starmer: stay in SM & CU

The DUP are more than willing to pull the building down if they believe it advances their political aims,

Labour announces fundamental shift in Brexit policy

Sir Keir Starmer told the government that now was the time to put membership of the customs union AND the single market back on the table. It could have big significance for the future.

A deal that pleases both sides might not be as impossible as people think,

What is Labour's postion on the customs union? It's that they'd quite like to win the 2022 election

The story of the government’s Brexit impact analysis papers has been worth an episode of The Thick Of It

(more bizarre than that, DD admitted this morning there weren't any done!)
