This is absolutely superb, it might be the best party political broadcast ever.  It's funny, witty and somewhat accurate and probably how many view British politics.

All this fuss about Cameron's personal finances is so irrelevant. I don't care how rich he is, or whether he or any other politicians fiddle their taxes or expenses. None of that matters - it all adds up to nothing in comparison with the country's finances.

What I do care about is that this government has reduced government spending by £15bn for the year we are just starting and by a further £12bn for the following year. That is on top of the £12bn already cut by the Coalition.

Local authorities are bearing a large proportion of the cuts, despite having to house more homeless families and children in care, pay higher landfill tax and so on, resulting in cuts in or cancellation of all kinds of services, eg supporting people with learning difficulties, children's social care, women's refuges, supported bus services. The streetlights are literally going out over Britain while people are arguing over trivia.

I guess my 3 y/o daughter will never be a politician - her jISA is an investment trust based in a tax haven.

Did you get the other pamphlet titled THE FACTS in red letters?

Mine arrived a few days before the government's one and was heavily biased in favour of leaving but did not declare allegiance to any party or polititians that I could discern.

Slightly disingenuous I thought as it seems to be posing as information only.

well its skewed

the regulations allow the govt to spend £9m on a "remain" pamplet

it also allows "leave" to spend a smaller sum on their own mailshot, but as it cuts across parties and there are three "leave" groups" its far less organised and appears more amateur (which leave as a campaign is)

There is an irony to those moaning about the £9m are the same ones who demanded the £70m referendum.

Jesus, I thought it was bad enough when he couldn't even get the damn thing in on time.  Come on Jeremy, shape up.

No surprise to see Diana Abbott and Emily Thornberry trying to duck this one too.

Complete and utter pish from Gove.  Its a disgrace that he is not being fully taken to task for this.  There is zero chance that the UK will be allowed to trade freely while being able to ignore single market regulations.  He should be sacked from the government.

Yeah, that was nonsense. He knows very well that we would have to continue to apply EU regulations even if we not members. Stanley Johnson explained why in a nutshell in today's ES:

"the prime minister tried his best with the renegotiations but..."

So many of those who are campaigning on the remain side are telling us that we'd be voting to stay in a flawed organisation but that staying means we can influence change of some form or other. The issues within the EU are many, too many unelected posts, too little control of finances, a level of overheads and beaurocracy that is unsustainable, it was barely functional with 9 member states it's disfunctional now with 28.
As we've seen recently attempting to balance the interests of the countries within the United Kingdom is difficult, attempting to balance the interests of 28 nations is ridiculously hard. The suggestion of any meaningful renegotiation being possible is just laughable.

Whether we stay or leave we are faced with a significant measure of uncertainty, at least by leaving we can have a greater level of control over our future path.
