another likely to be very unpopular position

Not just unpopular, pathetic.

We need to crack on with making the best of the position instead of coming up with such nonsense.

I was amazed to hear Anna Soubrey mention, in passing, that she barely knows Cameron, considering how often she gets put up to represent the Conservatives.

Iain Martin ‏@iainmartin1 now11 minutes ago

There's going to be a huge surge in party membership numbers. People will not want this left to Corbynite loons and Tory activists.

--------

would you consider joining a party to have a vote on your next leader?

I'd join to support Corbyn/McDonnell as long as it was that cheap membership rate :-)

No, no! The awful Liam Fox wants to run. Literally the last person I would want in charge - I'd rather have Norman Tebbitt than Fox. Surely he has no credibility left anyway, if he ever had any?

So how about a general election announced with Cons, Labour, Lib Dems, SNP all committed to staying in the EU or another referendum, and only UKIP taking us out.

He's deluded. The DoD has too much dirt on him anyway, not a hope of making the final 2

the way this works for those who don't know is the 1922 committee seeks nominations.

the long list is voted upon in multiple rounds by tory mps

the top 2 then get put to the 150,000 members (generally older, more right wing than the parliamentary party and in my limited experience of two constituencies a pretty scary bunch of blue rinse nutters)

and a leader is chosen

As for the sequence of the coming coup, there will be 'waves' of bombers coming for Corbyn. Resignations stretched over today + tmrw.

It's like the end of Hamlet. Tim Farron as Fortinbras is just going to walk on stage when everyone else is dead and claim the kingdom.

Am hearing that the Polish Centre in Hammersmith has been smeared with "Go Home". This is an unspeakable crime and is indescribably awful.

There should be no secret ballot, if you want to oust your leader have the bollocks to do it in front of him.
