Perhaps the leaking in Europe of discussions with UK has played into May's hands.
Don't think they would have expected her to go as aggressively on the offensive as she has in last few hours.
Most def, quite enjoying this.
The trouble is, they read and listen to the mainstream, by and large, remain media in the UK and play a tune to the people who already agree with them.
Our media and remain politicians often seem offended by any challenging or aggressive things we say but appear to enjoy it when the EU acts in a non conciliatory way. The enjoyment comes from a ner ner, told you it would be difficult kind of way. Well, no shit, of course it's difficult - our leaving poses a big threat to their hegemony.
I think May, for all her faults domestically, is adopting exactly the right tone in this preamble to negotiations. Give nothing, say little, offer no compromises and let the EU sound increasingly shrill.
The huff and puff from the EU has increased, in my opinion, because the UK election is going to put them up against a national leader with a rock solid leadership position for a decent length of time. This is much more formidable than if we were led by someone more exposed.
Only mis-step from May, possibly, is not to go with a much shorter campaign.
Think I'll be Tory by polling day - Boudicca and the super suave David Davis or Jem, John McD and Di. Laughable innit
