PS is it bad had too google what you were on about with the lionesses? nothing to do with ABE just i haven't seen a match all summer

I don't think the standard is too bad at all, and England don't play negatively.  First game was a bit crap, but enjoyed the rest.

when i say a match my team Aberdeen have been live on TV with there opening cup games of the season i just haven't turned on the football, i think the 1 game at a time during Covid so spread over 15 hours of something daft turned me off the game.

"I don't see who's next," Watson said.

"I feel like we've got a good little group of players right now, but little. I don't see who's going to be top 50.

This feels a bit harsh; before her injury, Katie Boulter had gone ahead of Watson in the rankings, was playing really well and had a very good chance of getting to the top 50.  It feels like this is just trolling her.

As mentioned, Jack Draper has a very good chance of top 50, and I would be surprised if Raducanu doesn't make it.  Jodie Burrage has struggled with injuries too, but could make top 100.  I would love to see Francesca Jones make it too given what she has overcome.  One good year could see one of a handful of others make it to the top 100 who are in the 200s or so.

The French Open has clearly been a bit of a shambles for Brits, but not sure I'd write off the future yet.  It isn't like there was a golden period in the recent past when we have had better than we have now.  Having the Murray brothers and Konta is the exception rather than the norm.   I grew up watching a bunch of bang average wild cards getting dumped out of Wimbledon by the second day.

So are we really in bad shape?

Need to bump this for Heather Watson.

Raducanu is about to leave the top 10, and Draper about to make the top 50, meaning there could be 4 British men there.  Must be odds on he is ahead of Raducanu in the rankings after the US Open?  Burrage isn't far off the top 100 either after a shaky year last year.   Didn't mention Dart here, so the Women's side aren't doing too bad, though the men are stronger right now.

Brings me on to Draper, Evans and Norrie all in round 3 in Montreal.  Think Draper definitely has a winnable game next.  Let's go.

and Evans and Draper through.  That Evans match was a right roller coaster.  Didn't see the Norrie and Draper matches as they all clashed with each other and Haddad Maia.  Draper now one win from the top 50, and think he has another winnable match next.

what a chance for one of the eight left to properly fly up the rankings with 1000 points.   If Nick K wins he would effectively be in the top 10 in the world if Wimbledon was a ranking event.

Think Kyrgios is basically a top 10 player already when at the top of his game.  Loses too many games through losing his mind, but seens to have that more under control this year.  He is still losing it, but not quite so destructively.

Could be a Evans/Draper semi; they are definitely in the best half of the draw.  Draper because Evans is there, and Draper because Evans is there... Can't be long beford Draper is getting flack for sometimes not winning :/

Draper's ranking meant he had to go through quailies this week supposing he wants to play next week his ranking taken on the entry date would mean he would have to do the same, IF he wins tonight you think he will be offered a wildcard o just have to take the week off?

Well he isn't in the qualifiers.  They had one wild card left 4 days ago, and think Djokovic was still in at that stage, so don't know if they will have added another.  Think it is fine to have a week off though.

Did you see Raducanu has got Serena in the first round?  Think she definitely needs to remember how to hit winners.  She can't be bimbling the ball back down the middle and needs to be moving her round.

In other news Evo and Haddad Maia are through.  Haddad Maia beat Pliskova last time.  Looks like it will be evens both (she was a generous 2/1 vs Bencic), will still be backing Haddad Maia though.  Think the 200/1 for a slam days are long over!   I haven't checked but assume she is still bigger than Raducanu for the US open?

Edit.  just checked, she isn't even quoted on oddschecker, though Raducanu is out to 50/1 now.

I guess Nick needs a break. He has done great recently though. Not sure he is maturing, just he is managing to win more so there is less room for self desctruction, but maybe I am wrong!

Andy Murray only has a wild card for qualies this week!

yeah he could of gotten into the quailies without it if he had applied earlier guessing he wanted some more game time after the early defeat this week.

current form everyone injury free who would be in your Davis cup and Billie Jean King cup teams?

Assuming you have to take Skupski and Salisbury with Evans Norrie and Draper for the men but do you play the double specialists together?

In the Women there are no real standouts in the doubles and would you play Emma in the singles? And would Watson get in the squad if she made herself available

I wouldn't take Watson, she just seems out of form and doesn't seem confident.  Think Raducanu and Dart seem obvious, and Boulter played really well in it the one before her injury, so would put her in if Raducanu injured. Watson plays a few doubles matches, so maybe there is a place for her there with Dart?

Think Evans, Norrie and Drapar are obvious for men with Peniston reserve.  Don't follow doubles enough, but we seem to have loads of solid options in men's doubles.

Dan, Cameron, Andy and Joe are in between Draper and Skupski for the 5th spot
