Of course I know there are negatives, but I don't think people realise the help just isn't here yet.

Go on then, I'll take the sweetcorn and swim with it.

You say all this aaron but then take more trips to Iceland in a week than Bjork and Kerry Katona combined?

How often do you go to do convenience shopping Chompy? In a week, even in the current circumstance? Does your bread, milk and other essentials last you more than a week? I am pretty sure bread last 3 days max.

Perhap I have to go and pick up prescriptions too. Who knew?

What kind of bread are you buying?

Combine bread trips (five a fortnight?), Iceland trips, prescriptions trips and exercise, with that deep-rooted human need to socialise, and you can hardly ever be home?

What part of stay in for 12 weeks don't you get?

All of the help by the government has been useful, but it simply is too slow and still needs work.

Help for the self employed - It's coming, but not till June

Furlough - It's coming, but the companies still have to pay

Loans for business - It's coming, but you have to put your house up

Vulnerable - It's coming, but doesn't understand your medical & dietary needs

My point is that this social distancing stuff still isn't working. People aren't taking no notice. You can still become ill even if you're not classed as vulnerable. Some people if you fall into the vulnerable category are feeling the same

It is working though.

The majority of the population have reduced there social interaction massively.

That will make a huge difference and slow the spread.

The government can't account for people who need a loaf of bread every third day.

Serious question, can someone less vulnerable not collect shopping/prescriptions for you?

Aaron, I don’t know what your medical situation is but there are very good reasons why some people are being advised to shield themselves completely. There will be help a available to you, let me know if you’d like assistance making sure you are able to access it.

Spot on. I haven't left the house for four weeks now. I'm in the extremely gullible category.

Find one of the local helperers to bring stuff to your door imo. I've had Tesco home delivery and neighbours help out so far, for prescriptions and essentials like kebabs.

This week however I'm having to use a local helper to do the weekly shop for the first time.

Sure you can find someone in your neck of the woods if Amazon still don't deliver Hovis.

Yeah, get help Aaron.  There were loads of volunteers so you should find one.

Managed to feed a famiy of 4 for 7 days on one shop.  Day 7 is definitely a bt crap, but it can be done.

I haven't tried yet, but you can get the basics by courier from morrisons.  Looks like it will do one person for close to a week.

They do a veggie one too.

I stayed inside for 7 days until Friday and only went outside for ‘exercise’ once without even breaking a sweat? It’s actually not that hard if people have some self control......

I freeze the bread after a few days so it doesn’t go off, a big milk lasts a week easily, I could do 2 weeks easily if I needed to.....

Is the FT turning into the Sun?

Asking a question that if the government take a stake in any industry will they leave out Virgin Air because Virgin Health sued the NHS?

I'm pretty flabbergasted that a 'proper' newspaper would ask such a tabloidy question.

You’re right, but maybe there is a point of principle to be made with some of these guys that actively avoid tax. Maybe the current situation is an opportunity to sit down with people like these and have a frank conversation about what tax obligations they need to fulfil going forward before any help is agreed......before obviously thoroughly checking that  they really need the help and aren’t being chancers, ie they would genuinely go under without the help.

What the FT asked equated Richard Branson - an individual; with Virgin Air - a company; with Virgin Health - a completely different company; and suing the NHS - because the NHS broke the rules (if they weren't guilty - they wouldn't have lost); with individual tax avoidance - Branson living on his island.

Most of it parts were unrelated to the other parts and almost all of it was irrelevant to whether they'd deserve government help.

The government is definitely not going to help out really big companies unless they really need to, but If they'd asked a question like what you suggest about whether companies who have taken agressive tax reduction measures would be a lower priority for government help - that would have been the basis for a decent question and in keeping with FT's image.

Ah, so you want to laugh at someones circumtance? In which one person is vulnerable and can't get volunteers and/or foods to suit dietary needs?

It must take a lot for you to wish at someones circumstance when they are highly vulnerable.

If you have kids, they have must be so prod of you.
