"I went for a drive to see if I was safe to drive"

Why take your wife and kids if you're unsure if you're safe to drive?

Absolutely excruciating.

He should never have done this interview. Makes about as much sense as the Prince Andrew interview.

The original trip to the family estate juuuuust about makes sense.

The Barnard Castle stuff is ridiculous and should be the end of him once the facts around that are established.

can I just check: when you have had eyesight problems want to check it’s safe for you to drive is the normal procedure putting your family in the car and going for a half hour drive, each way?

its ludicrous isn't it?

(ps it was his wife's birthday!)

How many miles can you go on the average tank of petrol in a Land Rover Disco?

Can you get from London to Durham, to and from the nearest hospital, plus a 1.5 hr round trip to Barnard Castle without ever filling up?

He comes across better here than the select committee, I’ve warmed to him a bit today.

They will now have to update the Coronavirus regs to say that if you’re worried your eyesight has been compromised by illness, it is appropriate to drive your family 30 miles to a nearby beauty spot, to check that your eyes are functioning. It doesn’t look good but that’ll have to be the rule now.

Agree he comes across better and was genuinely in a tough spot .

He has stood his ground against the reporters and I do believe what he says.

Boris should still have bollocked him publicly so as not to undermine stay at home policy.

At around 30mpg in a 77 litre tank, I think it’s about 500 miles capacity ?

I went for a drive to test my eyes? He comes across like a bloke that's lying through his teeth to me.

Yeah ok , I get your point on that one , although it was day 14 of isolation and had been cleared to go back to work
I believe.

Thought it was going to be a car crash but in my opinion he came out of it pretty well.

If there are any holes in provable facts in that story, the press will find them and he’ll be toast.

He came over better than I expected, although the test drive looks a bit dodgy.

Excellent presser, not crying like a baby saying pointless sorries every 5 seconds. Independent, thinks for himself, seems like an aspirational figure to me.
