Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Playing poker in downtown Las Vegas

I really like the tourneys downtown. Chopped 3rd place or better in 7 of 12 tourneys there in Feb. Played mostly at Binions and the Nugget. I am a bit surprised that you say it has changed so much Maureen - we were both such fans of downtown! My info isn't as up to date as Our Blessed Sister, so praps things have changed. If things are cack downtown, then at least I have two of those t's they give out when you win a tourney at Binions! The Plaza has gone right downhill - it used to be a nice staple for me to go and play a few STT's in the morning to give me some extra cash to play with, but filling the STT's too k too long when I was there last. The main advantage is that it's easy to get to lots of different tourneys, as they have all tiimed them right so you can jump from on to another if you so wish. The Fitz was awful - nasty chips, disorganised, and frankly a bloody mess. I don't play cash live, so can't comment on finding a game. Visit 13 can't come quick enough for me

I know someone on the good end of this - he's at the hilton paid for by Virgin, in a suite with a whirlpool tub, a free buffet, and will be on his way to play a bit of extra poker tonight. He's only on standby to come home tomorrow, so he may end up stuck there for a few days - poor thing- he has said, however that he will be coming from the airport on Saturday if need be to play at the Cheesey home game

Was it Maureen? The report I read from the top of the thread was that the judge was taking leave to get reports before sentencing?
If that's the case, then legally it's a more open route to let people say what they want - wide open in fact. But I'd still suggest caution for allowing people to hope he gets the shite kicked out of him in prison - if he was injured - again it could be used in court, certainly if the person saying it was known to him.
My feelings on the above are not relevant in this.. I am merely being objective.

I can't say that I sit easily with conversations of the type that are happening on here happening whilst a trial is still in progress (the court hasn't yet made it's ruling - so it is technically still in progress), and as people have been giving information that could be construed by the court as impinging on the integrity of the trial (tenuous I know - but you wouldn't want to be the people that made the trial fall over would you?). I'd suggest to the mods and owners to be very careful about what is allowed to be discussed on here, and even what stays on here. Am I talking out of thin air? No, and anyone that knows me knows that I know what I am talking about (some of you probably grudgingly admit that - not that I am bothered, to be honest).
It's awful, shocking and nasty. Having to deal with a predator in the midst of a community is never anything short of horrific, and if it is someone that you know on a personal level then it does leave you feeling shocked, hurt, sickened and a bit like a fool to have "not realised".
You can't tell though, 92% of convicted predators have NEVER had a criminal conviction or even a police warning - looks like Mikky was a bit of a stats breaker there.
I've been in this situation twice - people I know have been discovered to be predators. There's always a lot of soul searching going on, and then anger, and then incredulation.
A large part of my job is to find and prevent predators from infiltrating the website I work for. I am specially trained. Did I see it in this case? No.
Blonde is strong. Look after each other in this horrible time.

Get a cab from the airport, tell them NOT to take the tunnel (or you will pay much more than you need for your journey). Don't get a shuttle buss, you are far enough North on the strip so they will drop off everywhere before you get to your hotel and it will take ages.
If they try and stick you in a manor room at CC tell em to sod off.
Do NOT use the ATM's in the casino.. they charge a % of the cash you withdraw.. read the small print carefully. Just across the road from CC is a strip of shops, you will find an ATM there.
Fremont Street lightshow runs from 6pm - midnight.
As someone has mentioned, don't go off strip, and if you go downtown, stay under the canopy.
Eat late night, and you won't pay so much for specials. Go for the graveyard specials.
As you sre staying at CC (LOL!), try out the Sahara card room, nice tourneys, lots of tourists.
After the big fight, either go eat, or go to another casino to get a cab - the lines will be jammed and you don't want to stand around in a line for an hour to get anywhere.
Take comfy shoes, and lip balm.
Enjoy!
