You have to remember Newcastle have done exceptionally well to have two strikers they've signed that have 'instantly clicked', great business but also a touch of luck. Hence why they've given Graham Carr a 8 year deal.
Suarez does miss a lot of chances, creates lots but misses a good proportion agreed, what stops him being world class.
Value is also flexed a bit by the situation at the time, the Carroll situation has gone horribly wrong from the moment they 'panic brought' him, they knew they were paying too much, just not 'how much' too much.

Oh my......! The "comments" are interesting, too. Does that Blog really get 65,000 hits in 24 hours? If so, good grief.

Dempsey definitely. Is Sturridge a hard-enough worker for Rodgers? Just heard a lot of people who've seen him play more than me saying that he can be very lazy.

Seems that it was successful in getting rid a bit of deadwood and saving some money. Only really a striker short. Give Klasnic a call.

Allen and Sahin are good signings, and Adam and Spearing just aren't what Liverpool need. Carroll didn't seem to be part of Rodgers' plans. Borini could prove to be a very handy player. It would have been nice to have got Dempsey, not sure what happened there. Could it be that FSG don't want to spend any more after what was signed last season (and for the amounts involved)? Read the average age of the squad is about 23, who which is irrelevant to the discussion but interesting nevertheless.

Its 6 million, just snap Fulham's hands off FFS.

Also, we kept hold of Agger. A major positive.

Why wouldn't Liverpool spend £6m on Dempsey, in the context of everything else that seems reasonable?

Exactly. He wasn't just looking for a pay check either. He wanted to go to liverpool

from twitter
"Tonight we found out why Brendan Rodgers got the #LFC job & Rafa didn't. The yes man won't be happy, but he'll accept FSG's lack of support."
Surely this all stems back to the previous mess of an ownership from 2008-2009? Such classics as blocking rafa from going through with the deal to buy falcao for 3 million included

Is it that mental that they put a value on a player and decided not to pay more than that? They gambled that they were the only club he would go to and therefore would get the price they wanted if they waited. That wasn't the case but at least they haven't overpaid. This window has shown that they aren't going to throw a load of money again like they did with Kenny. A longer term plan this time. Small steps. Probs how I'd want my club run.
