Agreed but superstars in any team sports win titles generally.  When you lose your superstar you are less likely to win/improve no matter how much deeper you squad becomes.

Pool can afford to regress slightly from last year and still get 4th.
Good teams with good players throughout the team win titles. Who was the superstar in the Spanish team that won the WC and EC?
You could argue all day what "superstar" means. If Pool win the league and Sturridge is top scorer, maybe he'll be a "superstar"? In any case, superstars often become so, after the event, because of the winning of titles.
Anyway, pointless argument. Everyone knows Pool have lost a very good player that will be impossible to replace, like for like. All they can do is improve the 1st 11 as much as possible whilst also improving the squad. I think they will do a better job in that than Spurs.
I still think they are likely 5th in the league but it'll be close.

I will be the scouser's biggest fan this season if this happens after getting the early 8/1 ew

Looks like it's going to be harder to call the top 6 (in order)  this season than it was last season. So many variables.

Liverpool finishing in the top 4 would be a successful season as the building continues, and finishing outside the CL places wouldn't be a total disaster, but it'd halt some of the momentum Rodgers has generated.

Sterling will be Liverpool's superstar this season.

I agree it's tough to call.

I think that Arsenal Chelsea and Man City will fill the top 3 with Man City and Chelsea fighting for the title.

I personally believe 4th is a direct fight between Man United and Liverpool and how Liverpool cope with Suaraz/how United work under Van Gaal. I'm not really convinced by 3-5-2 as a system but I spose time will tell.

I think going into this season i'm expecting us to be in and around the Top4, rather than hoping last season.

We won't score the 100+ we did last season, but then i don't think we'd need to this time to finish 2nd.

However we also won't continue to win 4-2, 3-2, 5-3 etc, so it is still the defense that will "lose us" top 4 rather than a lack of goals. Which is slightly concerning we've so far not strengthened that part of our squad compared to the rest of the squad.

Both mancs, Arsenal, Chelsea all could win the league this year, none would be a major surprise, we might not be such a surprise if we did, so going into this season with 4/5 teams with realistic chances is great for us all watching the prem.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Man C, Liverpool, Manu for me.  City priority will be CL i think.

Will Jose Enrique be your 1st choice LB this season?

Depends whether we sign this Moreno lad from Sevilla or not, why do you ask? Seems a random question, maybe fantasy related is it?

Jose Enrique should be a world class left back. Lightning quick, very strong with the ball at his feet, technically gifted, etc.

But he's prone to make "brain farts" and give the ball away, make the wrong decision with a pass, etc. He's also been a bit fragile in terms of injuries.

If he can sort out his consistency and remove the errors, and hopefully put the injuries behind him then he'll be an excellent left back for Liverpool. But I'm not sure if Rodgers is going to give him the time to prove himself as Moreno seems to be on his wish list. At twenty million pounds I don't think he's looking to sign him as an understudy to Jose Enrique.

Agger, Reina,  but not sure about any other main players in the squad.

Has three or four good games then throws in a couple of WTF performances.

When we signed him i thought he would  be our left back for many seasons.

Agree with Dan , Moreno surely not coming as backup.
