Whatever people think no sports team becomes better generally by selling/trading their champagne player and replacing him with a load of squad players in any sport.  Happy to listen to examples of when this has happened in any sport.

A number of sides are also playing with a support forward sitting on Gerrard at the base of your midfield. Agbonlahor did it to great effect

On Saturday Downing played at the top of a diamond and Gerrard gave him the freedom of the final third too, but that is a second point

the "pundits" think he might be declining, but its not so much that, its that he is less effective (and Liverpool less effective as whole) if he can't spray the ball around with someone at his heels

Rodgers needs to find a tactical and or formation response to this, as without Gerrard doing much Liverpool are far easier to defend against

I think it's a major point, Gerrard plays really deep but never picks anyone up. It leaves Liverpool effectively one short in midfield. When Liverpool are defending the game just passes him by, when they are attacking he no longer has the legs to support the attacks.

Roll with it Kin. It's reasonably funny and a lot less than Man U fans have had thrown at them lately

Liverpool's starting XI in full: Mignolet, Manquillo, Enrique, Toure, Sakho, Lucas, Rossiter, Lallana, Sterling, Markovic, Lambert.

The Reds' substitutes:  Jones, Skrtel, Moreno, Williams, Suso, Borini, Balotelli.

Am i looking for it, or anyone else think that the Rodgers quotes about Stevie G being world class and that players are privileged to play with him - he went on to single out Mario.....something he's been at pains not to donsince signing him!!
