Quite by chance, I stumbled across this, by Sam Razavi, who I happen to like a great deal.

It's not a blog in the general sense of the term, more a short story about life & poker. Beautifully written, really. Have a read please.

Nice read. Off to Youtube chopin.

Edit: Don't recognise it.

Pretty sure he's long dead. Think he was a classical music bloke. Usual shite classical stuff I'd guess.

Lovely piece by Sam Razvi, thanks for posting Tony. Makes you think how different your life could be if you had changed little decisions.

Isn't that so? Amazing really. And it affects us all if we did but realise it.

I have a few moments which utterly changed my life, some for the better, some very much for the worse. Not for telling though.....

He writes really well and in a style that is at odds with the image I have of him from historic televised games.

Little decisions may change your life, but in the absence of any means of testing a hypothesis it’s hard to know whether that change, in the longer term, is for the better. If we are happy and in a good place right now then all those bad times must have helped us get to here.

Anyway, I’m going to take the opportunity to link to a Tim Minchin song. Enjoy

If my dad was born in Salford instead of Moss Side, I'd be a united fan.

Some things really don't bear thinking about.

Probably wouldn't get to fly to Dublin everytime you went to Vegas, either!

How good do you run Grin

You might be forgiven for thinking these images are screenshots from a Monty Python film, but no, this is real. Yesterday - as it was the first Monday in October - saw the start of the legal year.

Tradition & all that stuff is great, I love it, but without context it don't half look daft.

So, a service took place at Westminster Abbey yesterday by way of traditional celebration.

And no being rude, please. If you end up in Court, these are the men & women who will decide how long you are going down for.

Some 40 years ago, I declined to make myself available for Jury Service, as I had onerous work & business responsibilities, & in due course I received a missive from the judiciary instructing me to attend at some official building adjacent Derby Magistrates Court.

I turned up expecting to receive a sermon from some geezer in a suit & tie, but was a little taken aback to be ushered into a room at the front of which sat at Judge wearing all the gear, wig & everything.

He then lectured me for 20 minutes on my lack of responsibility & sense of civic duty & all that stuff, & I started to fear I'd be thrown inside for contempt of Court or something equally dreadful.

After he'd finished his diatribe, he solemnly told me that in view of my disgraceful behaviour, he was banning me from Jury Service for the rest of my life.

Now that's what I call a result.

Incoming PM about all those Legal bods yesterday, asking why the different colours.

Well I don't really know, but I think the ones in red are like Quarter Backs, they call the play, & the ones in purple are the Wide Receivers. Probably.

Different colours denote different ranks.

Red ones are High Court judges; purple ones are Circuit judges; black ones are District judges.

Ahh, thank you Mr Tal.

So, in effect, I was correct. QB's are always the most important.

I don't know if you heard about the 737 landing in the lagoon in Micronesia.  They were very lucky, as there were lots of boats on the scene quickly and the US Navy just happened to be doing a bit of work in the lagoon.

Some of their footage has emerged, the picture quality is a bit crap, but these videos are pretty astonishing.

and

Unfortunately they missed one person who went down with the plane.

^^^^

Yes, an extraordinary story, & a real miracle that so many survived.

The first photos, with the hull sitting on the water, were very reminiscent of the one that landed in the Hudson a few years ago.
