https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/crime/britannia-hotel-deaths-police-not-hunting-for-anyone-else-after-two-bodies-found-at-building/ar-AAAFQvE?ocid=spartanntp

Stayed at this hotel many times, and I know you're a big fan of it.

All sounds a bit strange.

Does that not constitute rather strange behaviour?

Strange behaviour of course. Not uncommon though. Thought you were suggesting that you didn't understand what had happened.

Not at all, pretty easy to deduce what might have happened, even with limited information available.

I find it a little strange that 2 people have died, in seemingly related incidents, in one night at the same hotel. Maybe an argument, maybe a lovers tiff, who knows? I'm sure it will all come out in due course.

Perhaps if it was another hotel it wouldn't have peaked my interest but I've been unfortunate enough to stay at that hotel numerous times. The Lowry it ain't!

Bit harsh to label a place rough because of a murder.

Never saw Miss Marple tucking into a kingsize greasy fry up in an Eastbourne B&B.

Can't imagine the solution to Cluedo being Professor Plum with asthmastic hairdryer in the 3x6 bathroom.

Poirot didn't solve the murder at the Holiday Inn Express.

No, you get murders everywhere. The difference is the detective.

While Morse would be seen hunting a clever killer in the Oxford Dons' bars...

...if you were after a toerag who needed nicking from a sleazy motel, Regan is your man.

Had you down as a First Class Passenger.

Yup, but on this occasion, Gill booked the tickets, & her problem is she does sensible.

She was right, too, the whole journey was excellent, nice comfy & roomy seats.

Might just be the worst hotel in the UK, but it has one thing going for it - at the buffet breakfast, they have on offer the perfect combo of tinned plum tomatoes & fried bread. FRIED BREAD. One can forgive an hotel* a lot of things if it serves fried bread.

* Why are we supposed to write "an hotel" rather than "a hotel"?

Hiya Tony,

Just catching up and saw the post on the amazing Sir Simon Rattle.

There's a young conductor to keep an eye on for the future by the name of Vasily Petrenko. He's dragged the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic kicking and screaming into the present and totally changed how they work, their popularity etc etc etc. Not only has he changed their fortunes and perspective by expanding learning programs and learning opportunities for children, he's much loved and respected by the orchestra who play their socks off at every performance, he spends ages afterwards signing autographs, having pictures taken talking music etc and doesn't leave until everyone has had their chance to see him.

Since joining the RLPO in 2006 he resisted "other jobs" until the vision he had came to fruition and even now after so long when he stands down as chief conductor in 2020-2021 he will remain as their conductor laureate. He has previously guested with the Royal Philharmonic and in July he was announced as their new musical director for an initial five year term commencing in 2021.

He is much loved in Liverpool and as well as holding the usual honorary Doctorates etc etc, the Lord Mayor of Liverpool has made him an Honorary Scouser. There are tons of video's of him on Youtube and of course he has a wiki for those of you who maybe interested. He has a brilliant sense of humour.

His last performance as a conductor will no doubt be extremely emotional.

Lovely post Shaz, thank you.

Now I don't want folks thinking I've gone soft in the head & taken a liking to classical music shite, but quite by chance I happened across this recently. Isn't it just perfectly wonderful to see this young man busting his moves?
