His name is Behzod Abduraimov, & he seems to be a sort of classical piano super-sub, filling in for others who are MIA or AWOL at big classical events.

Quite the talent, it seems, right up there with Chas & Dave, Russ Conway, or Winifred Atwell when it comes to tinkling.

* Why are we supposed to write "an hotel" rather than "a hotel"?

It's "an hotel" if you pronounce it "an 'otel"; it's "a hotel" if you pronounce the 'h'.

The grammar should follow the speech - or at the very least when you write "an hotel" it's suggesting that you would drop the h yourself.

That's the best explanation for that grammatical oddity I've ever heard, thanks Cowboy.

In private, I drop the "h", but I like to make out I'm posh, so in public I always pronounce the "h".

Another reason to like Behzod is that he comes from Uzbekistan.

Kazakhstan apart, Is there a more pleasing word to say or hear than Uzbekistan?

If asked to identify either on a map of the world I'd be in trouble, (maybe Russia-ish & down a bit?) but they both sound thoroughly wonderful.

He's not bad huh! I had to watch twice, once to listen and then again to try to figure out how he gets his fingers to contort like that for so long! No wonder I was rubbish when I was little and only got as far as Moonlight Sonata and couldn't play it now for toffee.

Shock news this morning - Kayne West has changed his name to "Ye".

I was a little puzzled by this, but Kayne - sorry, Ye - explained;

"So I'm you, I'm us, it's us. It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye - just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, everything."

Well that was exactly what I assumed.

Equal billing with ^^^^ on the BBC News website is the story that over 800 - & more likely several thousand - people died as a result of the earthquake & tsunami in Indonesia.

I vaguely recognised his name, but it is pretty hard not to click on that story and not marvel at that double barrelled name.

Top billing surely follows?   Suggests Locke gets what he wants right there?

Yup, that's the key to success.

Quite by chance, I stumbled across this, by Sam Razavi, who I happen to like a great deal.

It's not a blog in the general sense of the term, more a short story about life & poker. Beautifully written, really. Have a read please.
