The shark gets hold of his arm, shakes him about a bit, then lets go - & gets hold of his head!
The water is running bright red with blood now, but for some odd reason, the shark buggers off.
Andrew is airlifted to Hossie, has xteen pints of blood transfused, and his arm, which is hanging on merely by the tendons, is somehow stitched back on, he has 140 stitches in his head, is transferred to a specialist hossie in Intensive Care, & after 6 months, all is well. Except he has a gammy arm.
But here's the thing, & it's black humour as black as it gets.
Just before the shark got him, his mates on the boat saw the shark. So they shouted to Andrew "ANDREW - GREAT BIG SHARK RIGHT BEHIND YOU, GTF OUT OF THE WATER".
Now, I don't suppose, in the circumstances, he could do check boxes, but if he could, his answer was....
[ ] There sure is a shark behind me.
But there was......
We plied him with queastions galore, what a story.
And then he said another stupid (but true) thing.
"So how did you get him to let go?" we asked.
"Well I hit him, with my other arm" says he.
Now Kev chimes in.
"That's no good, you are supposed to poke them in the eye" says our shark attack expert.
"Well yes, I know that now", says Andrew, "but, you know, at the time, I never had the bloody manual on me, or a 'phone, to seek advice".
You just can't make these things up, really.
I don't give a toss if he can play poker or not. I want him on my Table, he's a fun guy.
Some great characters out there if we take off our poker blinkers.
He plays at Luton a fair but, nice guy - never asked about the arm but will now

I made the tough laydown of trips in my hand the hand previous, was short stacked and tired. I did the REPOT thing pre and got most of my stack in then. Trips were good so obviously it was excellent play. Forgot to say it's £15/hr ta !!

Mr Shark man is a semi reg at luton, plays poker in the right way IMO, puts some horrible beats on people but receives his fair share too and i've never seen him say out of turn to anyone. was telling me the story a couple of weeks ago. The whole table sat there pretty much mouths wide open. Understandable, it's not everyday you meet someone that has survived a shark attack. Think he has been around on the poker scene for years actually, Southend player in the past i think.
Was also saying that the guy that saved him gets all the attention if they ever go anywhere. apparently no one cares about the bloke that got attacked lol.

I was always told sharks don't like the taste of human blood which is why so many people survive shark attacks, the buggers just give up once they taste the flesh.

Surely then that makes him technically disabled but not unable to make him walk from a parking bay a little further away. Maybe im just being a little over harsh but im more questioning the blue badge system than the man himself.
I know when i took my nan out shopping once i had someone question me as to why i was parked in a disabled bay- She was in the shop at the time and i was just collecting something from the car. I can understand why he asked though. When i do go out nan loves to use it but if i can i just park in another bay near by with plenty of space.

there are many reason people need a disabled bay only 1 of hem is cause its closer to the shops
infact 10 years ago i was asking for more disabled bays away from the shops so that they werent used
by non badge holders and i had somewhere to park
the main reason for me in those days was wider door openings

Might be harder for him to park in smaller spaces.
Especially if he's got a big Lexus...

Not that it matters much but the chap's name is Alistair Carins. A fierce mien, but sort of understand why now.

Yeah, I think it's very rude when these nosey parker types come and question your blue badge credentials when you're just going about your normal business.
