He still scored that goal at the New Library, so he's not all bad.

On the completely opposite end of the scale I remember standing at The Baseball Ground watching Derby entertain QPR. Ray Wilkins came over to take a throw-in right in front of me and as one the crowd in that part of the ground erupted and started chanting BALDY BALDY BALDY. Wilkins drops the ball and turns to face the crowd as this cacophony of BALDY chants reaches fever pitch. He then bowed in a very low and elegant way like a great nobleman greeting his king would have. Everybody cheered and he took the throw as we all sang 'there's only one Ray Wilkins'. Total class, had us eating out of his hand.

On a seperate note pls remember I have 1% Main Event action Tikay. As an investor though not happy with the sob i'm the value these days mentality, we need to get into the zone if we're gonna do this. Anyway the first few days are about lasting and you are good at lasting.

Tikay is just setting us all up for when he reveals the video of his rocky style WSOP training montage!

Got to agree Tikay.  Everyone is an 'expert' these days.  Criticising others and needing them to fail is the biggest sign of failure in oneself.  Those who do it are out there doing so and those who don't sit around and pass judgement.

I would say that attitudes like this has always happened, but before you never noticed it, as generally we tend to hang out with people who have the same kind of views on the world as us.  Now its kind of impossible to ignore, and should those people really wanna get involved in your life, then they really can...for example I had a pretty nasty message on Facebook a while back, which I just blocked and ignored.  Then the next day I had the same message on twitter.  Again blocked and ignored.  So this individual then decided to message my sister.

The internet and social media gives everyone the opportunity to have their voice heard in such a short space of time, and actually people with pretty mundane/boring lives see it as a way of getting their names out there.  When Tom Daley won a bronze in the Olympics, some guy instantly sent a very abusive message to him, which then went viral all over twitter but facebook and the next day national newspapers.  For a couple of days this average 18 year old kid was national news and from his tweets during this time he was LOVING it.

And actually we are partly to blame as we easily get worked up/press retweet over things without thinking about them, not just about bad/offensive things but also when we are trying to do good.  That Joseph Kony video last year was just incred that people thought that by sharing/liking/retweeting a fancy made video they would have any kind of impact on such a complex situation in Africa.

The main thing nowadays tho is that most people don't think before they type and press submit.  I used to be very guilty of this when just by adding a single word to a comment on here I offended Neil Channing.  Now whenever I put something public on the internet its always double checked and I think for 5 minutes about it.  Don't think I've had a problem since and would highly recommend that everyone does the same!

And love him or hate him, I think this is actually Ricky Gervais' best piece of work ever.  This isn't actually about anything specific, just think that nowadays people like to be known for something, whether it be good or bad, hence the amount of trolls in social media trying to get noticed.

Often easy to forget that Gervais is a genius.

Watched the quiz episode of the Office this morning, classic.

scotty - agree with much of that.  Had long forgotten that scene from Extras - really enjoyed that show.

I've had it all on social networking - idle threats because someone didn't agree with a fee structure for a live tournament that I never even ran, false account set up in my name both as an individual and group following some pathetic attempt at intimidation because I invited some people to join an FB group who were already in another.  I'm kind of popular round here in case you didn't know.

The level of gullibility never ceases to surprise me on FB with people outraged about all sorts of shit they wouldn't lift a finger to do anything about.  So far this week we have had a pretty intelligent guy outraged about KFC's use of genetically modified organisms and having to drop chicken from their name and literature (orly?) and some other guys getting outraged about how some third world people keep themselves alive through trade because it hurt some dogs and they like doggies.

Gone a bit off track with this, and don't want to derail any further.  More train pics?

A tragedy yesterday in India, when this coach plunged off a bridge & 37 died.

A fascinating photo beyond the awful tragedy. Life is so different in some parts of our world, where old & new exist together.

If you read the 2+2 thread on the ISPT Wembley, there are a thousand people - almost literally - who will tell us why it will NOT happen. Which does not require a deal of imagination to say.

I've not seen anyone say, or realise, exactly why it is win-win for DTD to get involved. Their Online Room, & European profile, will rise stratospherically because of this, & even if they lost, say, £250,000 on the gig, (& they might, when peripheral costs are taken into account) they would still be long-term winners.

get a grip tony.  The original ISPT concept was thirty f--king thousand people playing poker on their laptops in Wembley for a billion euros guaranteed.  That was then amended to a few hundred people playing the first day in their bedrooms with zero guaranteed.  Despite all this building, they most certainly did not come - with French freeroll tickets providing virtually the only entrants.  That is why the 1000 ppl on 2+2 were saying it wouldn't happen

So DtD stepped in and we have a bit of a poker festival in Wembley with a nice guarantee.  A million miles away from the pish that originally emanated from ISPT.

2% please

Does this mean you will not be playing the main event?

2% booked with PLEASURE. I shall need to change my sig again. Thank you Keith.

Main Event? I have not given any thought to it, to be honest. I would probably be available to play it, but I really think I am "the value" in Hold Em these days. I assume you are alluding to the incredible staking thread which Greeky started last year as to myself, & maybe Tom, too, playing the WSOP Main. Fair bit of water has passed under the blonde bridge since then, some of it rather muddy...Wink

Put up a staking thread, it would sell out within 24 hours.

And you and Tom would have an absolute ball.

You can't put it off forever, because eventually it will never happen.

What he said.

It was twenty FIFTY years ago today........

It changed music for ever, it changed our lives for ever (it heralded the stamp of approval for the permissive society), and for a teenager at the time, wide-eyed & about to start life's adult journey, it changed my life for ever. I had just learned to read, & rid myself of my stammer, hairs were growing on my chest, but it needed one more ingredient to kick-start it.

BOOM

No music act before or since changed life as much.

It took exactly nine hours to record, & the Band members received £22.50 in Musicians Fees for the day. Plus some royalties.

It shot to #1 in the Hit Parade, & stayed there for 6 months, eventually to be replaced by their next album, or as it was known in those days, "LP", as in "Long-Player".

It may sound trite & silly, but my life was made immeasurably better & happier by these 4 guys.

I have all the Boxed Sets, most of the tracks have stood the test of time, & some of the lyrics are nothing short of genius, yet simple.

It was twenty years ago today,
Sgt. Pepper tought the band to play.
They've been going in and out of style,
But they're guaranteed to raise a smile.
So may I introduce to you
The act you've known for all these years
Sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts club band.

This one has always been a personal fave of mine

There are so many "favs" in their catalogue, Barry.

It might just be me, but I know all the lyrics of just about every Beatles song, too, & I can't say that about any other band.

Thought they may have been before your time though, what are you, 50, 52?
