why would people with luggage want to go to the  end of the pier and more to the point why would they want a season ticket? is the IOW full of crazies going up and down on the train every day with suitcases full of chickens?

Not yet but when he retires that is exactly what TK is planning on doing.

Ok - the chicken comment has whooshed me. Why would someone have chickens in their suitcase?? Explain some one please?

Is it cheaper than taking a crate of them?

Steve Davis breeds chickens.

there was an article on him in the poker news mag I think this week

I quote

"Breeding chickens and breeding poultry is a fun way to grow your flock and gain valuable experience in genetics. Breeding chickens is also fun! There's nothing more magical than hatching your own eggs."

Sigh, sometimes you just have to spell it out in black and white.

The pier head has one of the links to the mainland (fastcat via wightlink) so obviously people are using it with luggage! A large number of people also commute to the mainland to work, hence the season ticket, in fact, my children have school friends that come over from the Island for school.

But yes, the IOW is full of crazies too.

you possibly need to be more b and w. commuters do not have luggage, people with luggage are not commuters you see so if only people with luggage use the train it makes no sense that they should sell season tickets. ducy?

that is until rex explains that people buy season tickets and then don't use then because they get money off other stuff.

I'm beginning to realise why these people were banished to the island in the first place.

does the IOW ferry only go to the pier though? I always assumed it went to a big dock somewhere but I've only ever sailed to the island so don't really know

No, but the eggs are fresher before they are laid.

There are several ways to get on and off the Island.

Ryde pier head and Portsmouth Harbour on (foot passenger) catamaran

Ryde beach to Southsea on hovercraft

Cowes to Southampton on (foot passenger)  catamaran

Fishbourne to Portsmouth via car ferry.

and Yarmouth to Lymington via car ferry.

All cost far too much, I read somewhere that the most expensive crossing anywhere in the world (in price related to distance) is that of the UK mainland to the IOW.

What, it doesn't go anywhere else?  Not a very good ferry is it?
