I'd imagine reading this thread would be good enough to educate him if he doesn't totally have rocks for brains.

Would it not be better to try to educate him? I just think that even if the authorities do anything it's unlikely to change his behaviour, only re-enforce it but an attempt to engage him and show him he's wrong could make a positive difference.
I agree.
Just out of interest, what kind of replies has the guy had to his comments?

One reply, along the lnes of "wtf?", & he then went off on some other subject, oblivious to what he'd said an hour earlier, no doubt.
Tom just rung me, but I dropped the phone, it was so hot.

That happens to be my view, too, Paul. In fact, I doubt he means, or believes, what he's written. Kids just Post stuff without thinking sometimes. You need to sort the wheat from the chaff, the hardcore guys need reporting, yeah, but most if it is just kids doing dumbspeak, trying to look big.
Social Media platforms empower us all - including youngsters who would not otherwise have a voice, & so the power goes to their head. Or fingertips.
I know you guys are right, but my emotions get the better of me sometimes.

Aren't most things marked up by that?
"Perishable goods", yes, in fact, more than that, much more usually. If you fail to sell perishables within x days, their worth becomes zilch, hence the mark-up.
The problem with Tom is that he has a keen sense of value.
When I worked at House of Fraser almost everything had a 50% markup, the only things that didn't were manufacturers who had enough clout to insist on lower margins.
That's the only time I've worked in retail so I don't know how typical that is across the board.
