There is a nest of young robins in one of my conifers.

Here's one of the parents with a worm for them. He always uses the corner of the clothes line to check things out before he goes to the nest.


I put food out for the birds, & noticed that blue tits do the same thing when coming in to feed.

They seem to have 3 designated stop offs, where they check all is clear, before they actually approach the food. Always the same 3 spots too, 2 on the fence & one on a bush.

Well Trev, the swallows have finally arrived in Blaby District, although I've yet to see one in Sharnford.

Saw a pair of bullfinches on the lawn this morning though. Got a pic of the cock but the hen was too quick for me.

Yes, I'm very lucky to have Foss Meadows as my back yard. The meadows are farmed organically without the use of pesticides or heavy machinery and the hedgerows are left intact. As a result, the flora and fauna are incredibly diverse.
