This is what happens when you insist on running through brambles at 30mph.

It's just a small tear in her ear, but dogs ears are awash with blood vessels (that's why you should always start at the ears when looking for ticks) and they bleed profusely.

Cheers Boo, but Evie wasn't the slightest bit perturbed by her ghoulish apperence and continued to enjoy her day.
Unfortunately the same can't be said for Mr Joe and Mrs Josephine public, who either ran off in horror or insisted that l call an ambulance immediately.

In the end I thought it best to make a quick detour and wash her off on a stream.

And for Ralph's benefit, here's a quick shot of Kizzy forcing her way through the buttercups.

A dog has "adopted" nine ducklings after their mother disappeared.
Fred, a 10-year-old labrador has become "dad" to the baby birds at Mountfitchet Castle, a tourist attraction near Stansted Airport in Essex.
The ducklings' mother was nowhere to be found when staff noticed them waddling around alone, but "Fred... immediately took to them and has been babysitting ever since."
They have even followed him into the castle moat for a swim, staff said.
The reconstructed Norman castle is home to a number of rescued animals, but Fred is "the resident dog".

I see the demon barber has had his wicked way with her again - no wonder she was a little camera-shy.
Have Evie and her sister come into season yet Tom?

Funny you should ask Ralph.
After waiting for what seemed like forever....
Say hello to Daisy, Nancy, Bruce, Teddy, Ruby & Mr Darcy. They are just over 4 weeks old. Mother and babies doing great.
See how they come forward with their tails wagging rather than cowering and trying to hide. Modesty aside, if any of you ever go to buy a puppy, look for ones that are bright, curious, confident and well socialised like these.
PS- Excuse my voice, got a frog in my froat.
