Citizens of Pakistan, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia are banned from celebrating Valentine’s Day. Pakistan banned the holiday in 2017 because it is not a Muslim tradition and it focuses on love that isn’t directed towards God.

Did you know that Xmas is celebrated by quite a few people in Israel although oddly(to me) they call it Sylvester.

Correctamundo as per Ralph.

Here's what wiki has to say about it.

This will be a lucky child if it lives, if you know what I mean.

I've been home alone today and unusually for me I spent all of it lying on the settee sweating, vegetating and watching daytime telly.

I have definitely not carped this diem.

Some diems are not for carping.

I had an epiphany this morning.

I was sitting outside on the step, dogs at my feet, mug of tea in my hand, watching my granddaughters and their friends as they hurried back and forth between caravan and wash room preparing for a day out. Everyone else in the family were away already, doing this and that.

I realised that as life progresses, I am increasingly taking on an observers role.

What's more, I'm quite comfortable with it.

Katie Puckrick.

Another of my 'instantly dismissed without trial' people.

Watched her do an unrehearsed opinion piece to camera today. What a measured, thoughtful, eloquent orator she is.

Mr Long.

You know how the full title of the eponymous series is "the Haynes book of lies"? Well I've now found out that the modern version is "the enthusiast's forum post of bollocks". Said post claimed that after disconnecting the column in the engine bay, removing about 37 bolts under the dash, the column will "simply" rotate 90 degrees and you can easily remove the electric motor.

Ha.

On his car at least, the motor was surrounded by metal framework that meant it was never going to rotate at all. At about the five hours in mark, when enthusiasm and confidence was just about at its lowest, we were seriously considering using a Dremmel to lighten the car and remove the impeding metalwork.

While I went off for a short huff, son managed to work out that there were four Torx bolts (and whoever invented them - knowing that everyone who ever comes across one is guaranteed to say "wtf is that?" and require a diversionary trip to Screwfix to add yet another set of sockets to the 'never to be used again' pile - needs to be shot or at least a good kick up the arse) holding the motor to the column and if he dislocated a wrist or two, he could just about disconnect it in situ.

So, after 6.5 hours, we had exchanged many knuckles worth of skin for an extracted motor. On Monday he took it up to a place in Derby who repair these things and by Wednesday it had arrived back home. I was working away so could only offer moral support for the 'refitting is simply a reversal of the removal' process, when the message arrived saying "just been for a drive and power steering is working", I could have cried.

He's now suggested we could do with changing the front coils, which would require a spring compressor and no doubt a high risk of serious injury. I politely told him to go forth and I'll give him the cash to get it done at a garage.

That, my friend is a first class explanation of this horrendous process.

I feel like we are now brothers in arms, like those who have climbed Everest, walked unaided to the North pole, fought at Tripoli etc.  (Although there are loads of those, I bet there are only about half a dozen of us).

I'm deffo buying you a cup of tea the next time I see you.
